Wings getting a number one pick is pointless.  He'll just waste away in Grand Rapids until he's 26-28 like all the other rookies.

You think if Detroit had drafted Tavares, Stamkos, Toews, Crosby, Ovechkin, N-Hopkins, Seguin, Hall, etc that they'd play for 6-8 years in GRs?

 

Or are you exagerating? Yeah.

We also should be positioning ourselves to look attractive to potential free agents. If we're not a playoff team we look like a much less attractive destination.

with threads claiming that "the Detroit diamond has lost it's shine" and complaining about our lack of free agent signings, you'd think everyone would be on board with proving that we are a contender EVERY year...not just when we had Nick.
