rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 I was thinking about taking one to get things amped up for the boys. However, being an away arena, I'm fairly certain I'll get arrested or at least kicked out, so I would have to throw it towards the end of the game, hopefully when they are winning. Although, I'd really love to throw it out early and give them some spark. What do you think? How the hell do I get it in? 11 8 Legged RedWing, Ally, ogreslayer and 8 others reacted to this

vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 The question really is why is this even a question? You put it in a plastic bag and tape it to your leg. Don't forget to boil it first. Throw it at a time where you feel you've gotten your money's worth at the game because it's a given you'll be escorted out. 5 Vladifan, Ally, Hockeymom1960 and 2 others reacted to this

Throw it at a time where you feel you've gotten your money's worth at the game because it's a given you'll be escorted out. Textbook right there. Love it. Boil, bag it, tape it, throw it. Don't be a dummy though and throw it interrupting the play or at a horrible time. Make sure to throw it in an area that won't screw up the ice too much (boiling will avoid this also). Good luck and get the boys motivated!!! 3 Hockeymom1960, Vladifan and redwingmachine reacted to this

Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Good rule of thumb is always take an octopus everywhere. Din758 371 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 when i tossed one at the joe, all i did was boil until it turns purple, and rinse it good. Then put it in a plastic bag and hockey taped it to the front of my ankle so my baggy jeans would hide it. Nobody even questioned me. It will stink though. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 It depends on how serious your relationship is. Have you met her parents? I'm one of those old fuddy-duddys who think that octi should be reserved for the playoffs, but since this is as close as Dallas will get this year, it's kind of you to give them at least a taste of the playoff experience. If you're really nervous about getting caught- wear a Stars jersey (get a cheap one at a thrift store) over a Wings t-shirt. If the jersey is white and the t-shirt red, you might need a white t-shirt over the red one to camo the red. Then once you get inside, give the Stars jersey to an underprivileged child (one whose parents haven't raised them as a Wings fan), ditch the white t-shirt (they're cheap at thrift stores) and wander about proudly wearing the Wings colours. Or spend the game in a Stars jersey and when security asks who threw the octo, just shrug and ask them to explain icing. 22 8 Legged RedWing, FireCaptain, Rick D and 19 others reacted to this

Vladifan 680 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 I LOVE this! And being in central Texas and about 3 hours away from Dallas, I say GO FOR IT!! ('Cause we can't...! ) Meanwhile, among others, that's three mods on here who say, "Hell, yeah!" But of course, it's a really sad thing that we have no control over what you do when you're AWAY from the boards. I hope you have a blast while it lasts!! frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Yes you should do so, every arena should see the famous octopus, octopus the world! My recommendation would be to throw it, when you feel like you've gotten your moneys worth. Sure they might escort you out, but who cares if its just a few minutes before the end, that way you are also going to avoid the heavy traffic. Thread has potential to be the best one of the year so far, hopefully they are going to show it live on TV hopefully the octopus will reach the blue-line :-)
The Greek 323 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Do what makes you feel right. We all love seeing the 'pi smack the ice. We also know that hockey games are expensive. Plus, being in Dallas, you won't get many chances to see the wings. I support you no matter what you do.

rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 The first challenge will be finding one. Believe it or not, I've been trying to find one for months to feed to my shark with no luck. They show up now and then, but not common. I know all the basics of boiling, with lemon juice I've also read? Obviously wouldn't throw it near the players or during play. I'm not that guy. My other challenge is I'm sitting behind the net, one section to the right, so I would have to find a throwing spot as to not hit the catch net. I'm also of the concept that this is a playoff tradition, but being the last game of the season that our playoff chances hinge on, I think it's acceptable. I want the boys to feel at home away from home. We always get the LGRW chants going, so listen for us! And I mean all of Red Wing fans there. Probably won't go the Stars' jersey route, I will proudly be wearing my new WC jersey from start to finish. 2 Vladifan and whitewolf406 reacted to this

There normally doesn't seem to be many fans in Dallas, so you can probably maneuver around the rink pretty easily to find a good place to throw it

BottleOfSmoke 5,965 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 I opened this thread not knowing what I would find. What I found is that I am deeply in love with each and every one of you! I am of the mind that you find a good throwing spot away from your seat, THROW THAT f*****, then run like hell to the concourse and get lost in the crowd. Wait a few minutes, then casually return to your seat with a beer and a pretzel. Enjoy the rest of the game! 4 RedStormRising, 55fan, FireCaptain and 1 other reacted to this
