ECQF - (5) Maple Leafs vs. (4) Bruins

Is it just me or are both these teams big bad and mean compared to Our Wings?

The Bruins can be, but the past few months they haven't played very tough. The Leafs have the most physical fourth line in hockey, but the rest of their forwards aren't particularly tough.

The Bruins definitely love their slap shots . . .

edit:

...and Horton scores. Score one for random-internet-guy-is-completely-wrong.

Side note: who knew Wade Redden still had this much hockey in him?

I hate the Leafs, especially living in Windsor, had to put up with the Leafs on TV every damn Saturday night. Occasionally we would get the Montreal games, with the great Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin, man those were great memories when I was kid, my dad loved the Canadiens :bye:

Boston just plain out-hustled Toronto for most of the game. The Leafs simply didn't have an answer for Bergeron and Krejci.

Boston did an effective job of shutting down Kessel.

Pretty physical game. Good tempo.

Looking forward to game 2.

From hockeytubedotnet:

After the game Andrew Ference claimed to not know what a reporter was talking about when asked about the elbow on Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski, but we’re guessing it’s likely that Brendan Shanahan may help the Boston defenseman remember shortly!

The interview in question is (as of right now) viewable at TSN.

Hopefully he gets 2 games for being a past defender. That's just a dumb play not to mention dangerous no penalty of course

He may not have known because it wasn't an elbow to the head. Unless by "elbow" the reporter meant "forearm."

It was contact to the head, though. No question there.

Anyone watching? All those thousands of people outside the arena... man...

I remember when Detroit fans used to be fanatical

I'll start by saying how it's nice to see an Original 6 team turn things around...I also enjoy the fact that the Bruins have a "blue collar" attitude...Jack Edwards makes me chuckle - I love his enthusiasm, and the "Bruin" bear commercials are some of the best!

With that said - I've always despised fan bases that have no shame in their poor/thuggish behavior...A few years ago a Habs fan was assaulted by a Bruins fan while in Boston during the playoffs...Looks as though they're making the news again for all the wrong reasons...
