As someone who roots for the Bs, I'll sign onto this.

Lucic used to be the perfect Bruin - big, mean, nasty, physical . . . and good. These days, he's still the perfect Bruin: satisfied, soft, paid, and complacent.

Maybe I'm being unfair. This was a short season, the Bs schedule was backloaded to begin with, which got even worse with the marathon bombing make up games (6 games in the final 9 days? Ouch). But this has been an issue all season.

Despite most of the roster being intact, this is a different team than the one that won the cup. And the difference isn't Tim Thomas. Rask isn't perfect, but he's definitely good enough to win. Kinda like Howard. The biggest difference I see is with Lucic and Horton. There's no nice way to put it -- they've been brutal this year.

I like the Bruins, but I'm pulling for the Leafs in the series.

Good start to the first game. Leafs up 1-0.

Is it just me or are both these teams big bad and mean compared to Our Wings?

The Bruins can be, but the past few months they haven't played very tough. The Leafs have the most physical fourth line in hockey, but the rest of their forwards aren't particularly tough.

The Bruins definitely love their slap shots . . .

edit:

...and Horton scores. Score one for random-internet-guy-is-completely-wrong.

Side note: who knew Wade Redden still had this much hockey in him?

Bruins are just dominating this one.  Could be a long series for the Leafs :)

I hate the Leafs, especially living in Windsor, had to put up with the Leafs on TV every damn Saturday night. Occasionally we would get the Montreal games, with the great Danny Gallivan and **** Irvin, man those were great memories when I was kid, my dad loved the Canadiens :bye:

Boston just plain out-hustled Toronto for most of the game. The Leafs simply didn't have an answer for Bergeron and Krejci.

Boston did an effective job of shutting down Kessel.

Pretty physical game. Good tempo.

Looking forward to game 2.

From hockeytubedotnet:

After the game Andrew Ference claimed to not know what a reporter was talking about when asked about the elbow on Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski, but we’re guessing it’s likely that Brendan Shanahan may help the Boston defenseman remember shortly!

The interview in question is (as of right now) viewable at TSN.

He may not have known because it wasn't an elbow to the head. Unless by "elbow" the reporter meant "forearm."

It was contact to the head, though. No question there.
