...as of today, 5-1-13 there are three pretty important prospects that are without a contract and have a deadline set of June 1st, 2013 to sign a pro contract.

Tomas Jurco

Alan Quine

Philippe Hudon

....Does anyone know what happens to these guys if they do not sign? Do they become UFA's like Justin Schultz did? I would hate to lose any of those three...

Don't think Quine and Hudon will be signed...pretty sure they may go back into the draft

Yes, Jurco is playing in GR.  Red Wings Central stills list him as unsigned, but capgeek has him signed for three years...

Quine and Hudon are not showing signed at either website.  I actually think that both these guys did really good this year for their respective teams.  The Wings have 2 players in GR that become UFA's this July.  Francis Pare and Jan Mursak. I think they should let these two guys go and sign Quine and Hudon.  Pare is 25 and doesn't seem to have an NHL future, at least not here and we all know the Mursak situation. At least Quine and Hudon are very young and can still grow and get better.

Phillipe Hudon:

 2012-2013 Victoriaville Tigres QMJHL 65 15 20 35 63 | Playoffs 9 6 1 7 6

Alan Quine:

2011-2012 Peterborough Petes OHL 65 30 40 70 21 |

                  Griffins AHL 3 0 1 1 0 |

2012-2013 Peterborough Petes OHL 26 9 17 26 14 |

                  Belleville Bulls OHL 28 14 27 41 6 | Playoffs 17 8 8 16 6

Quine actually has really good stats and I am perplexed why he has no contract yet. LIke I said, he is very young and would be worth the signing of a EL contract and see how he developes. Worst case scenario he plays for three years and goes elsewhere or he gets traded.

Mursak signed the other day with a KHL team so that frees up one spot.
