That's playoff hockey. Oh well. I think that people are overstating his importance. He's been good, but he's also been playing most of his time on the third pairing.

I think you are understating his importance. And in Game 1 only Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kronwall, and Kindl played more minutes, and he's looked better than both Kronwall and Kindl.

Devastated. The hockey Gods hate us. Says a lot about how good DK's been that this is as big of a deal as it is. Babs says we don't make the playoffs without him--hope we can stay in without him.

Obviously a huge blow to us.  I personally think that Colaiacovo is underrated around here though.  He has actually played pretty well when he has been in the lineup.  The complaint with him has largely just been his injury issues.

Not to mention replacing your arguable 2-3 defenseman with Lashoff or Cola, who are both cold (at the very least) and distributing more minutes to Smith, Quincey, or Ericsson who have all been intermittently dreadful.

I would say there are only 5 players or so who's loss would be worse. I still have faith, but if that final 10 minutes shows anything...

I am not sure about DeKeyser's value being overstated by posters here.  Babcock himself said the Wing's most likely wouldn't be in the playoffs without his addition to the roster.

edit: Sorry 6 posts popped up while I was typing this.

I'm trying to keep people from jumping here. This does not, repeat NOT, mean the end of the world for the team.

Dekeyser has been playing incredibly well given his lack of NHL experience.  As people have mentioned, Babcock seems to think he's been fairly important since he joined the team.

People are understandably bummed.  Even if they overreact, after the initial disappointment most recover.

It's okay to feel things.  :P

Bad news for this year, but our future is indeed bright with this kid.

Money on the board:  Current total: $6

$1 for a goal by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster.  An additional $5 for a series-clinching goal scored by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster. $5 if the other team fails to score against a current Wing goalie after whom I have named a hamster.

Hamsters I have had:  (current Wings highlighted)

Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

Niklas Matthew Daniel Robert

Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

Andrew Patrick Ian Todd

Jordin Damien Gustav James

This. I'm more than impressed with his play.

The only positive I see in this is that there are options to replace him.
