Any tips on ways to tolerate the NBC media?

So FSN Detroit is done for the year... Damnit. We'll miss you Ken and Mick!

Onward to NBC and NBCSN. And you just know a certain Edzo will be there. How fitting for a series against the Hawks. Sigh...

Anybody got any creative tips on how to tolerate the NBC broadcasting?

Some of the best from the Ducks media:

Jimmy Howard knocks net off. Zetterberg dive

Teemu Selanne crosscheck on Jimmy Howard

Jimmy Howard head snapz

I've never seen a goalie called for diving, so why not take a page out of Dom Hasek's book and flop all over the ice?

Hearing these idiot announcers makes me glad I moved away from California

The ONLY thing that helps and is very therapeutic, is while you are watching the game and when you get that urge to kick your TV in because of Edzo and the NBC Clowns, just log on to LETSGOWINGS.COM, take out your frustrations in the GDT with us, your friends, and get everything off your chest! We are here for you! This is why LETSGOWINGS.COM is the greatest place in cyberspace! (well there is that one porn channel) Ahem...Cough...Cough... Ya, just come here and complain about the NBC crew along with your best Red Wings friends!

As a whole they're really not that bad. Yes they're a couple guys in don't like. But they're not that bad. But of course EVERYONE wants their own announcers cause they do know their own team as well as put a bit of a bias spin on it in our favor.

You also need to accept the fact WE ARE RHE UNDER DOG and Chicago does have a a much better top 6 than we do. So accept it and be a realist before you listen to them.

That's not the point. The point is that Edzo does show his bias when the Hawks are playing and that isn't good for the game, especially on nationally broadcasted stations. They should be using a broadcaster that his team is not playing in the playoffs.

He is one of what 6 guys you listen to during the course of the game? He is one I don't care for but still. You're making a bigger deal than what it is.

Exactly. It would really be no different if NBC said, "Hey, Ken and Mick...you want to do national play-by-play for this series?" Chicago fans would be livid (and rightly so). The fact of the matter is, Edzo is EXTREMELY unprofessional when it comes to Chicago and Pittsburgh games on NBC and has all too often actually WHINED on air about the mistreatment of his favored team. I remember when the Wings won a game in OT over Chicago and Edzo let out a big, annoyed sigh when the GWG occurred. That ain't professional.

I have a friend who just flips on the radio feed and watches the game in sync with the video. Works great.

As for me, I don't mind the NBC announcing team. I really don't know why people are so anal about listening to them. Its the same attitude that people have when they turn on Fox News all the time, but when a program that they like comes on CNN, they ***** about it. There are other options thanks to Ken Kal.

Not completely NBC related, but annoying that they don't release the schedule for next round immediately. They obviously know it already. What is the advantage in waiting until all series are done to release the schedule. :shout:

Turn it up and enjoy because they're the best hockey broadcast team in the league. Yes Eddie might be annoying, but just concentrate on Doc and Pierre and you'll be in for a good time.

I've noticed with the NBC brand covering every game this post-season, they have had to delude their commentary squads to cover them all. So far, most (if not all, only saw one or two) of the Hawks games have been sans Edzo, often opting for his Chicago/Crosby-loving proxy Pierre to take over.

I hope this trend continues, but I wouldn't hold my breath. With the field cut in half, I wouldn't be surprised to see Edzo (the Hawk's Mickey) calling Wings-Hawks games more often. I would suggest you just learn to love hearing the cause of every Wings goal being a "SUBTLE hook/hold/slash/pick on the Wings", spoken with a tone of complete emotional devastation.

No matter who it is calling the games, there is going to be plenty of Blackhawk love. They've earned it with their season and NBC latches onto anything that is young and hip, just like Gary and Co. tell them to. There is no tolerating it. Just have to tune it out.
