Zetterberg is neutered playing with Filppula and Cleary.

The lines worked in game 7, but I'd still rather see Datsyuk and Zetterberg together.

According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

Not a bad period but obviously not a good one with the goal.

Pretty good period minus Cleary and Smith's one play.

Defend his play on that PP now , please. Are you Cleary's father?

Cleary was the closest forward backchecking, and there was another teammate to his right. Quincey was covering the pass. As third man in, Cleary's job is to cover the slot.

The lengths you go to defend Cleary are baffling.

I'm saying it was a broken play.  Cleary had a 50/50 shot at who he should cover.

Quincey covers the pass.  Typically that means he stays in the middle.  If Quincey stays in the middle to cover the pass, then Sharp could've walked in on the left side for a quality shot and you guys would be bashing Cleary for not covering him.

It's only in retrospect because Q made a sliding play towards Sharp that it seems obvious Cleary should've picked up the trailer.

I'm not defending Cleary.  I'm pointing out that play was on Smith.  But because Cleary is the scapegoat this year you'll even bash him for not guessing correctly on a broken play.

The end of the first period. At least they looked better than in Game 1. Sigh.

Not a bad period really. Just poor individual performances by the usual suspects that are hurting the team.

Put 40-13-8 back together. Z can't do much with Filppula and Cleary on his wings.

They played well but once again look like a team that doesn't know how to score. Crawford is giving up plenty of rebounds.

Out shot and out hit the hawks in their own building in the first....I guess we don't belong on the same ice.

Someone needs to run Crawford to get into his head.

Unfortunately, no one has the balls on this team to do that.

Can we change the lines up during the intermission and maybe get some spark going? Z does not even look like the same player as Games 6 and 7.

Yeah this.  Despite all the pressure their forecheck is putting on us in our D zone, we've played pretty well.  End even their goal needed a kindly bounce off the block.  Crawford is giving up some juicy rebounds, one has to fall to us eventually.

"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk

We need someone for Z and D!  It's been said before numerous times but it is so obvious right now.  Kenny, part with some of your mancrushes and address the situation.

The players sitting in the locker room with their heads down. Then enters Darren Helm with a healthy back. Locker room goes crazy goes the punch line to every sports movie. Lol

its so frustrating that this team has battled so hard to get this far and with a few tweaks could be so much better. smith does not deserve to see the ice the rest of the playoffs. he has to be held accountable for his very poor play. and cleary continues to be deadweight on the top 6. put bertuzzi, miller, eaves, or anyone in that spot and then fill out the 4th line accordingly.

I love Maltby, but to say he wasn't a ****** is a dis-service to his career of douchebaggery.
