trade idea for next year

now that patrick roy is coach of colorado alot of people are saying hes gonna try and convince people to draft mckinnon or drouin since he coached the quebec league even though they need a defensemen and want seth jones

what if we traded brendan smith and tomas tatar in the off season for matt duchene ?? that might make them more inclined to say draft mckinnon?

probably wont happen for both sides and i like what smith is doing but my thinking is we got sproul ouellet backman almquist marchenko coming up and we have ericsson kronwall dekeyser kindl lashoff quincey now

duchene was a 3rd overall pick but hasnt yet really exploded as of yet but i think babcock would do wonders , anyways just an idea ... cant see them trading landeskog and i wouldnt want ryan oreilly or stastny from colorado

Quite the detailed reply. Care to, if possible, elaborate more?

the way i see it kindl is finally breaking out and playing great and wed be replacing him with shane o brien ... id much rather have kindl than him hes finally emerging and got alot more upside .... 4 yrs younger

nyquist same ... showing a ton of flashes of what the future can be and has a ton of upside ... and wed be basically replacing him with kobasew whos 8 yrs older ...were finally getting younger and your aging the roster up again

emmerton i can live with .... downie i would take but he also gets suspended alot .... overall for that deal i wouldnt touch wed lose in a heartbeat

We spend 3-5 years getting Kindl to #3 Dman, Emmerton to 4th line center/pk specialist, and Nyquist to 3rd line winger. And you think we are going to trade them now as they enter into their prime? Are you high?

It's not hard to find a 4th line PK specialist.

Nyquist and Kindl are different. Although I wish Kindl would play like he's 6'3 sometimes.

To Detroit:

Steve Downie

Chuck Kobasew

Shane O'Brien

To Colorado:

Gustav Nyquist

Cory Emmerton

Jakub Kindl

Great idea, let's trade one of our best defensemen and a forward who is clearly showing to be a top 6 player for a s***ty fighter and two nobodies. Bravo.

Yikes you must be serious....

Downie - missed all but 2 games with a major knee injury.

O'Brien - couldn't even stick as a regular on the LAST PLACE team in the conference.

Kobasew - UFA who garnered a whopping 9 points. I repeat...UFA.

In return you're offering 3 young red wing players who seem to all be having breakout years.

I don't think you put a speck of logical thought into this and are severely clouded by your obvious desire to add some "enforcement" to the team.

Bingo. There is literally no viable reason to make this trade.
