nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted May 27, 2013 I find it hard to believe that any team would want a guy who can't produce, plays poorly, and publicly whines when he's scratched. (Also, for your own benefit: it's should have or should've) thanks for the english lesson teach .... as for white if redden got traded for a pick i think its naive of you to think nobody would of traded for white , i personally hate the guy but im sure a contending team like boston would of offered a pick
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted May 27, 2013 I didn't find Ian White coming off as a whiner when he was scratched. I don't want players who are okay with sitting. But it may be an "unwritten rule" not to talk to the press about it. He was horrid in the beginning of the season, but he had plenty of company. I don't think he was bad enough not to get another chance in the lineup, but that's just my opinion. I hadn't heard any of the "bad team mate" stuff either and I'm not going to condemn a guy over something that happened in juniors. Me either. It just snowballs. He makes comments about being frustrated, and now that he's been out of the lineup a while he's suddenly a whiner and locker room cancer. Some of his comments at the time regarding being scratched. “It's really frustrating,'' White said. “I've played almost 500 games at this level and I've played the same way, so suddenly I guess it's not working.'' He added, “I am taken aback. I didn't see this coming. I feel like I'm playing the same way I played the last seven years. I work as hard as I can every night. Maybe I don't have the stats this year I've had in the past, but I feel I'm working hard and playing the same way I always have.'' “I played a couple games and then got set back for two weeks or so with my leg (he missed five games with a laceration to his left leg on Jan. 22), so it took a little longer, but aside from not scoring and getting points I feel I'm playing pretty good. It's funny, some years the shots all go in and the rebounds someone scores on, too, and sometimes it doesn't happen.'' http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/02/red_wings_ian_white_frustrated.html “I just want to play,'' White said. “I'm going to come to the rink every day and be a good teammate and try to make my teammates better. “I haven't asked for a trade. That's up to management, what personnel they want around and what changes they want to make to the team. So, I just show up and work hard and try to help everyone get better, help this team get wins.'' http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/03/red_wings_defenseman_ian_white_3.html To me that just sounds like a veteran player being fairly honest about how he feels. It's not surprising he wants to play, but it's not like he's not trashing anybody. 1 55fan reacted to this
