evilzyme 769 Report post Posted May 27, 2013 I always park at Greektown and then take the people mover over to the Joe. Parking normally is free at Greektown or it'll be $10 but they normally give you a $10 comp to play at the casino.
kylee 727 Report post Posted May 27, 2013 I'm going to my first game at the joe tonight! I'm extremely excited. Anyone have tips on where to park, how bad the traffic is, etc? Any help is appreciated I know it sounds fairly simple, but anytime I get to the game decently early, I've always had a lot more fun. Whenever I go, if i can, I try to get there about an hour before the game starts or so. That way while everyone is flooding in, you can be in your seat and watch all of the warm-ups/shootaround and get ready and take everything in. As for parking, leave a little early. Parking in the Greektown casino structure is usually $10, but sometimes more. Directly across the street though, is a parking lot by a Greek Orthodox Church that is a good spot if you can get there before it fills up. Another advantage with Greektown is that you can catch a free shuttle to and from the game, just look for them on the street. If you can't find a bus, take the people mover, but that does cost like a dollar or something.
Seraph 240 Report post Posted May 27, 2013 Everyone says Cobo center if you want to park close by. But I agree with the above, there are lot of ways to get to the game once you are downtown. You can get dinner pretty much anywhere, and take the People Mover for 75 cents right to Joe Louis. Greektown is a good spot. You can also grab some food at Hockeytown cafe. There is a ton of parking around there for about 10 dollars and they have a shuttle directly to the game. Have fun!
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted May 27, 2013 Avoid the parking garage at all costs if you can. Besides being expensive, it takes forever to leave after the game. I generally park on Jefferson and just make the walk down to the Joe, but during the playoffs you have to get there a little earlier to find anything on the street. Have fun! The atmosphere is absolutely electric for a playoff game.
