#NYR BREAKING: John Tortorella has been dismissed as head coach of the Rangers, source confirms

 Retweeted by George Malik

Confirming reports already out there, John Tortorella dismissed as head coach of NYR.

BREAKING NEWS: The #NYR have relieved John Tortorella of his coaching duties...details to follow

Can't wait to read the "Phoenix: I still think it's a hockey market" chapter of Gary Bettman's autobiography. I'm guessing it's going to be chapter 11.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  He was my favourite condescending media-snipper.  Who's gonna make reporters look like fools now?

Plus the team might play better, and that sucks too.

I dunno, Suter in LA does a pretty good job of trolling the media

"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk

Just my personal opinion, and I realize that others don't have to share it, but I feel that Torts is easier to look at.

Holy crap!  I did not realize this:

For those scoring at home that's 24 NHL Coaching changes in last two NHL Seasons.

He knew it was coming. One could see it on his face after the Bruins took a 3-0 lead in the series.

Oh, I see.  Some have been replaced more than once.  I was thinking that there were only 6 that had been around longer than 2 years.

I get it now.  Carry on.

Way to late but better late than never, watch out for Richards, Nash, Callahan having huge bounce years next season and the King well just being that, the King. I always disliked the way, how Tortorella called out his players and never ever admitted some mistakes the guy is just too demanding and too much to handle (understandably) for a lot of players, he sucks. Loved watching his funny press conferences but that is all this guy is...a joke. New York would never be a contender with him calling the shots. Good luck finding another job Torts!

This will be Babcock's fate if we lose tonight. And then by Monday we will have Torts as our new coach. Babcock you better have your **** together tonight. I don't want that man as the next head coach.

So I guess this means Brad Richards probably won't get bought out now.  Would've liked to have seen him in our top 6.

LOL, when is Glen Sather supposed to be fired?

This is his 3rd coach that he has hired and fired. He has a bigger rap sheet of bad signings than ANYONE!!!!!

How many Cups? 0 (zero)

He is the Matt Millen of hockey.
