One of which is Chris Osgood lol. But its OK its easy to tell when someone hops on a certain players(mrazek) and they think he is the best thing ever in hockey. Its OK I understand.

chris osgood???? huh what does ozzie have to do with this? lol ... and mrazek helped lead the griffins to the finals , i dont think they get in without him ... even weekes praised him on cbc ... didnt even think cbc mentioned anything to do with the ahl lol

Depends on what you think of Coreau, Paterson, and McCollum... I personally think they're overrated. Beyond Howard, Gustavsson, and Mrazek, I'm seeing some question marks. Bringing in another quality goalie like Hackett never hurts.

Not gonna happen

Trade: Quincey (He is good (sometimes.) but highly overpaid.

Buy out: Bert, Sammy

Resign: Filppula, Nyquist, Smith, Kindl, Brunner, Andersson, Cleary, Miller.

Sign: Stalberg/Bickell/Ryder and a defensemen

Howard - Monster

Kronwall - Big E

Smith - Dekeyser

Colaiacovo - Kindl

Quincey(Or someone new?) - Lashoff

Zetterberg - Pasha - Bickell/Stalberg/Ryder

Nyquist - Filppula - Franzen

Brunner - Helm - Cleary

Tootoo - Andersson - Abdelkader

Eaves - Emmerton - Miller

Maybe Tatar is ready for a place in our first lineup and if, i want him to play in top 6. Otherwise i rather se him play lots in the Grand Rapids and gets called up from time to time to show what he can bring into our lineup.

Tatar can't be sent to GR without clearing waivers

I think Ozzie must have said he thought Patterson had more potential than Mrazek.

Personally I think its WAY to early to proclaim either as the better prospect. Mrazek is more proven at this point but he's also further along in his development. Before his WJHC performance nobody knew who he was and he certainly wasn't seen as a potential NHL star.

Going into his World Juniors Patterson actually has a higher profile than Mrazek did, considering he was the best goalie at Canada's camp last year and considering the competition he has to face just to make team Canada.

Either way I think both have great potential and our goaltending is in pretty good shape for the future.

Ya this pretty much is it. Osgood was one of many I've heard say Patterson has a higher ceiling. But they both are projected to be good.

And for the first time in awhile we can be excited about all our goaltending. Amazing starters in nhl ahl and in juniors.

U act like I'm saying mrazek is bad and that's not the case at all. He has a bright future. Just Patterson is projected to be better.

ozzie probably never saw mrazek's stellar performances in the junior championships and hes stepping it up again this year in the ahl ... yes it is too soon but i do think we got a future superstar goalie in our hands and i do hope patterson turns out good ... he'll be nice trade bait :P as will howard in 2-4 yrs

from redwings central

Howard has a firm hold on the Red Wings’ top job, but his contract includes trade options starting in 2015-16 if Mrazek is ready. And all signs point to Mrazek being ready sooner than later.

even howard seems to know his job is in jeopardy in a few years

I guarantee Osgood saw Mrazek's world Junior performance, and has seen more of Mrazek's play than any of us on this board. Osgood's primary job is to coach and mentor Mrazek so he'd know his strengths and weaknesses better than anyone.

As far as trade bait goes I think Mrazek is the one of the best pieces of trade bait in the organization. His stock is insanely high for a guy with only 2 games experience and he's not even close to challenging for a starting job on the team. I wouldn't make any deals until we know what we have in Patterson, but I have a feeling one of those 2 goalies will be moved in the next few years and if I was betting, my money would be on Mrazek being the one getting dealt.

Its not that I think Patterson is better than him, I really have no idea who is better, but I think Mrazek will return more in trade making him the better choice to move. Realistically I think Howard plays out his contract with Detroit regardless of which goalie we end up giving the back-up role to.

Best case scenario:

1. Re-Sign Datsyuk.

2. Re Sign Brunner, Filpulla and all RFA's to reasonable contracts.

3. Amnesty Bert

4. Amnesty Sammy.

5. Sign Nathan Horton.

6. Trade Quincey

Franzen - Datsyuk - Horton

Filpulla - Zetterberg - Tatar

Nyquist - Andersson - Brunner

Eaves - Helm - Emmerton

TooToo, Sheahan

Kronwall - Ericsson

Dekeyser- Coliaccaovo

Smith - Kindl

Lashoff

Howard

Gustavsson

I agree 100%.

And for u Howard haters I also wouldn't be surprised if he signed another contract when this is up. He may very well be a wing for life.

I'd love for Howard to be a Wing for life. He can split time with Mrazek or Patterson in a couple years and we'll always have a great goalie tandem. Having Mrazek and Patterson will just keep Howard sharp and on his game.

ya go ask chicago blackhawks if they made the right choice trading hasek over belfour all those years ago, cant trade a guy with star potential and i do think he will end up taking over howards job one day and when that day comes its not like we'll get a 7th round pick for jimmy howard , not like his return will be crap, im expecting flyers to still be struggling in 2-4 yrs at that position

howard wasnt this far ahead in his progress when he was 21 and as for patterson as i said i hope he turns out to be good as well , more good players we got more trade assets we have which just makes our future even brighter

and as for howard being a wing for life ... dont see that happening unless he pulls a cup run next 2-3 years

Mrazek isn't Hasek and its hard to compare a 21 year old rookie with a guy who was 27 with 12 years of professional experience at the time of his trade.

As far as Howard vs Mrazek, Howard didn't have as deep of a team playing in front of him during his first year in grand rapids yet his numbers were very similar to Mrazeks.

Howard - 38 GP - 27 W - 2.58 GAA - ,910 SV% - 2 SO

Mrazek - 42 GP - 23 W - 2,33 GAA - ,916 SV% - 1 SO

Mrazek has a long way to go before he'll be pushing for Howards job.

ya ... 2-3 yrs :P

mrazek was 20 when he started with grand rapids ... howard 21

you can say mrazek had a deeper team than howard in his first year but i dont think they get to the ahl finals without mrazek in nets.. and i wouldnt say the defensemen overall in grand rapids are anything to brag about

anyways lets just agree to disagree

i think we can all agree though that we hope mrazek and patterson are blue chip prospects since it only helps detroit down the road

I agree with your last point, them developing is only a good thing for the team.

But small gripe - When you quote someone you should add your post below it, not add it to the quote.

ya i dont know why but most of my posts now are like this recently now for some reason ... never had problems before until of late .. weird

and now it worked lol ... anyways lets hope mrazek and patterson become blue chips and keep rebuilding the prospect pool all the time

You forgot Adelkader.

I like that forward group for the most part, but the D needs some work, IMO.

I saw today that Ales Hemsky is being shopped. McTavish came right out and said he and Horcroff are on the block. Considering Detroit has been rumored in the past to be heavily interested in him I'm going to have to cross my fingers and say my prayers to ensure that they stay clear the hell away from this guy. This would seriously take the wind out of my sails come July 5.

Wouldn't mind Horcroff, but only if they would take Franzen or Q from us...too bad they would ask for something better than him in return....So, no thanks to a trade unless it involves Franzen or Q....

Yeah good call, we should trade our leading goal scorer every year for a guy who's never scored more than 22 goals in his life. Nothing wrong with that idea.

I wouldn't trade Dan Cleary for Horcoff unless Edmonton was willing to eat the maximum amount allowable of his contract.

You'd be hard pressed to find a player with a worse Cap hit to production ratio in the league.

i know iginla isnt as fast but what about him?? only if he'd be willing to consider being a 3rd liner on detroit on a one year max 2 year deal at a reasonable price? he still had 12 pts in 15 playoff games

and im thinking maybe a line of tatar helm iginla could be good? tatar and helm will cause chaos with their speed and iginla with some finish?

anyways probably a bad idea just thought of it since iginla and morrow are likely done in pittsburgh ... clarkson is still the 1st ufa choice

I can't shake the feeling that Samuelsson is gonna be injured and might opt for surgery just before the season and we'll be stuck with him

That or Holland will refuse to buy him out

Anybody know anything about Blake Wheeler? I mean, whether or not he's going to test free agency or whether he's a lock to be resigned by Winnipeg? Seems like the kind of guy that could help us, and might fly under the radar. I know there hasn't been much discussion about him so far.

Edit: Nevermind, he's and RFA so it's pretty unlikely he's going anywhere. Damn.

One day you will realize that Franzen is declining rapidly and is pretty much useless in between the 5 game stretches he decides to play....

Yep, those 14 goals and 31 points in 41 games were pathetic. We should probably trade him for Shawn Horcroff.

28 goals and 62 points in a full season? Terrible! :P
