The team was in a transition year and still did more than anyone expected. Great playoff experience for the rookies.

Nyquist and Tatar for a full season.... yes pls.

I hope they pick up a top 4 D-man and a proven goal scoring winger for Datsyuk. They have a great shot if they make a couple smart moves in the offseason.

While this is a disappointing end, this team went further and did more than I could have ever hoped or expected.

Cheers to a good season. Especially in this, a rebuilding year.

 for positivity. My heart is still in my stomach, but all in all it was a fabulous season for development of our guys. And with alot more kids on the way, the future in bright. Next year the Wings win the Cup as an Eastern Conference team... hopefully beating the bastards that ended our stay in the West tonight!

Guess what? DeKeyser solves one of your wishes.

Horton could be the other.

We lost experience and top-end skill over the past few years, but we have more than made up for that in pure hunger and heart. This is a young team with a lot to learn, but they play to the last ounce of their being, and that is something that the Wings have lacked for a while, now. Even Zetterberg and Datsyuk I think played with more passion this year than the past few years.

I'm excited for the future.

It was a really fun playoff run. Stings a little that we didn't close the Hawks out, but then again Chicago is really an amazing team this year. REALLY excited about Nyquist, Andersson, and Brunner. Dekeyser and Smith will get better, and imagine if we had Helm. If the Wings can get a top 4 d-man and a 20-30 goal scorer, they will be back in contention.

Kronwall-Big Rig

Danny D-Smith

Quincey-Kindl

?

i mean for what we had this season they really stepped up but i would still prefer someone else over Quincey

I wasn't here back then, but I'm guessing there wasn't a thread similar to this one after we lost in the 2006 playoffs? :hehe:

But yes, next year should be fun. New division and new rivalries. We need to get bigger and stronger if we're to compete with teams like Ottawa, Toronto and Boston. The East is definitely the tougher conference right now and in the future from the looks of it.

This 2nd round exit was a lot more enjoyable to me then years past. I cant wait for October being in the eastern conference going to be awesome for the wings. Our rook's looking pretty good. Keep your head's held high fella's you exceeded most expectations.

I agree, great season and great run by the Red Wings. Most teams rebuild with lottery picks. We rebuild by ousting the #3 overall seed in round 1 and taking the #1 overall seed to game 7 OT before losing.

Hopefully they can re-up Dats for 3 more years. Z, Dats, Abby, Nyquist, Andersson, Brunner (re-sign him please), Franzen, Helm (hopefully he fully recovers), Tatar, Emmerton, Eaves, Kronner, E, Kindl, DeKeyser, Smith, Lashoff and Howard could all be together for 3+ more years. Add a proven top 6 forward or two to that along with potentially keeping Miller/Quincey/Cola around a little longer. Not to mention some of the other young talent we have waiting and the future looks bright.

Can't wait for the East.

To show how excited I am, here is my extremely early preseason Eastern Conference prediction:

Our division (along with playoff seeds):

2. Boston

3. Montreal

4. Detroit

6. Toronto

7. Ottawa

NA. Tampa Bay

NA. Buffalo

NA. Florida

Other division:

1. Pittsburgh

5. NY Islanders

8. Washington

NA. Columbus (could sneak by Washington though)

NA. NY Rangers

NA. Philadelphia

NA. Carolina

NA. NJ Devils

I'm still sick that we lost the way we lost (We were up 3-1 for F sake) but I realize with 5 rookies in the lineup and in a year we are getting used to our life without Lids I am proud as well and am most impressed with our coach and how well he made this team work.

I still agree with most that we need a big hard hitting goal scoring winger but I like our D as it is. If Smith works out some of those retarded mistakes and Dekeyser picks up where he left off our D top to bottom is looking pretty good... maybe they can take some hitting lessons and throw a few bone crushers enough to keet the other team thinking. Chicago wasnt worried about it... Not even 1 attempted Kronwalling.

AND They MUST fix the GD Power Play... We are playing the Kings right now if our effing Power Play could score a few goals... just a few! I'm sick of the 0 shot on net PPs, trying to break the world record on how many passes can be made in a 2 minute span. Game 6 we were in Crawfords head, you could see it. We needed to be blasting shots at his pads and crashing for those huge rebounds. I liked how the CBC guys put it "Don't shoot to score, shoot to create" because he was looking shakey and was letting those rebounds out there

You can't count on Horton yet, much like you couldn't count on Kindl/Smith last year. You just don't know yet.

A veteran top-4 dman would be great to pair with Dekeyser. Then put Kindl/Smith on the 3rd d-pair and let them figure it out.

That part sucks, but keep in mind that both teams won 3 in a row.
