Looking at mock drafts posted yesterday, the Wings are slotted at 18th. Is this true?

Does anyone know how this works?

SC winner = 30th

SC runner up = 29th

Conference finalists = 28th & 27th

then what? I'm confused.

I think it is correct. It goes by regular season record until you make the conference finals if I'm not mistaken.

I see on that list that our boy McCarron has up'd his stock in this draft. I sure hope he is available in the 2nd round to us...

I know we talk about size up front and our need for scoring, but I am telling you, that Santini is very interesting. Right handed shooting defenseman, 6'2" 207lbs at 18 years old! By time he makes the Wings (if drafted) he will be every bit of 6'4" 225lbs...of course Gauthier is a big at his age too! He could be a huge forward for us in 4 yrs.

Gauthier is exactly what we need, a big skilled forward that can get to the net and great hockey sense. He would be huge in a tougher Eastern Conference.

The hockey News draft mag says he's not expected to be a point producer even though he was close to a point per game plus it says he has a tendency of disappearing come playoff time. They said he's more of a 3rd line guy. Mantha or Rychel would be my picks if they went forward

im hoping for valentin zykov ... heard montreal is gonna try moving up the draft to maybe get a quebec player cause they got 3 2nd round picks and 2 3rd rounders

i wouldnt be opposed to maybe trading our 18th for picks 25 and 34

I doubt McCarron makes it to the 2nd round. He seems to have a lot of upside and at worst a big physical forward who can skate. Alraedy 6'5" 229ilbs and growing, he's gonna be a monster. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wings trade down and get him and a bonus 2nd rounder(or prospect) out of it again.
