Here's what I'd love to see going into next year (Note - not the line combo's but the personnel) The salaries might be a little high or low in places, but I think its conceivable we could ice this line-up with cap space to spare, especially if we trade Tootoo, then Emmerton would be one of the utility forwards.

Even with all that added firepower I doubt we go anywhere with that goalie combo.

It was only slightly above average in the AHL, and McCollum struggled even at the ECHL level.

Mrazek might be able to carry the load in a few years, but he's not ready for an NHL starting job yet.

As assistant GM I'm requesting that you at least get a back-up goalie to replace McCollum. Mrazek might surprise me, but at least then you'd have someone capable of giving him some nights off.

New try. Think that would be an impressive team. If we need a tough guy, lets call up Callahan. This kid sure is NHL-ready. Want to keep Bert and Helm. They could help the team if they're ready to go.

The D would be one of the best in the league. Even Letang would learn to play solid if Babcock's his coach.

Let Filppula walk and waive Gustavsson.

Trades. Maybe not realistic:

- Letang for Quincey, Smith and the 2014 1st rounder

- Yandle for Franzen and Ericsson

- Horton for Andersson

- whatever for Filppula

This is the best and most realistic lineup I could come up with. The only part about it that might be unrealistic is making a trade for Bogosian. I figured something around Smith, a good pick, and one of our top 5 prospects might get it done if they're having issues signing him.

As much as i love the idea of clearly not being in the line-up, kenny and bab wont let him walk. They like him too much.

Forgot him. I want to keep Cleary if he signs for 2.00 or a little less...think he's better than Abdelkader. Very solid and experienced forward. Played good during the playoffs.

You lost me at Stafford. You would give all that for STAFFORD? You have got to be kidding me. I wouldnt give Frk alone for him let alone a great centre prospect a 3rd rounder AND Franzen?

This. That's a king's ransom.

I would almost expect vanek for that much.

They're assuming Franzen's contract.  Just getting a replacement-level player for that would require the team to chip in a prospect. In my opinion, Sheahan's gotta go.  He'll run out of waiver options before the team has an opening, especially with Jarnkrok coming and Andersson coming into his own.  And he's got a bad rep with at least one inside scout that I'm familiar with.

Nonetheless, here's one thing I try to do when making out a roster:  Never short-change the opposition.  It's more realistic to give up too much in a mock and be kindly surprised than to suggest another team would give up a really good player for next to nothing.  At least you all reading the mock would get an understanding of what I'm trying to do without blowing it off for creating a fantasy roster without any stipulations.  My initial offer to the team would be Franzen and Sheahan for Stafford.  That's a top-six lefty for a top-six righty.  That's a 33-year-old with an extensive contract and a solid center prospect for a 27-year-old with a team-friendly contract.  Numbers come into play with deals like this.  Franzen has another seven years on his contract- that's a huge responsibility for a team to assume, especially one that's rebuilding.  I figure in this scenario the Sabres buy him out after the following year.  Making an owner assume another team's $15 million responsibility likely requires a lot more than just a center prospect.  Which is where Frk and the pick come into play.

$2,307,121 is our cap space at the moment with Nyquist,Andersson and Smith as RFA's and still working on a deal with Cleary.

It looks to me that Ken is still on the phone working on a potential trade.

Thoughts...?

Does anyone know if Sammy or Bert will be going on LTIR? Cause that could free up some much needed cap space

Sammy should be on LTIR with hurt feelings for almost being bought out.

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?
