Jagr, Ference and Pandolfo Will Not Be Re-signed

We don't have space on the roster for Jagr; Pandolfo is way past his prime, and we've plenty of defense-first forwards; and Ference will likely be looking for a sort of long-term deal that, with the glut of defense prospects we have, he will not be offered here.

I say we take Jagr if he is willing to sign for a little cheaper. I don't care what anyone says... the guy still has it. He was consistently creating tons of chances these playoffs, while playing on the 3rd line. He may not have scored a goal, but he hit at least 5 or 6 posts in the playoffs which were all wicked wristers. IMO if we can sign Jagr to a good deal for us, then he would fit right in playing on a line with Pavel Datsyuk. Jagr at age 41 will get more done playing with Pavs then Franzen half ass. On top of that, you can still sign another top 6 forward such as Horton, Weiss.

Jagr showed his age. He is now completely without the explosiveness he once possessed. Not scoring a single goal in 22 games despite playing on the 2nd line and on the PP for the fourth highest-scoring team in the playoffs really does not reflect well upon him. It matters not at all that he hit numerous posts during the playoffs; shots that posts are rightfully not even counted as shots, as there could be an empty net and they still would not go in.

Jagr is past his prime, and he'd serve as nothing here but a one-year plug. Not good.

Money will likely be used to re-sign Horton.

Probably, though perhaps he'd agree to take payment in services of some kind.

Ference should go to the Flyers. Their D could use a durable, responsible Dman like him. and waive Grossman.
