Rhah 195 Report post Posted June 26, 2013 These FAs need to dial back their expectations a bit... with salary cap getting across board reduction it basically equals a salary decrease vs value for all player contracts going forward. 1 Z Winged Dangler reacted to this

Why? Just to be nice? Morality? GMs are signing these guys.
GMRwings1983 8,058 Report post Posted June 27, 2013 We know Holland doesn't like paying market prices for free agents, so I don't see us signing Horton at that price. Not sure if we should either.
VM1138 1,919 Report post Posted June 27, 2013 They are hurting themselves long term. Great, you get your big contract. But if circumstances go downhill you will never be able to sign with another team. You will be another overpriced has been who fades away. But I guess they get their money. xtrememachine1 718 Report post Posted June 27, 2013 That seems a little steep for a guy with injury problems. Those problems aren't going to go away as he gets older either.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted June 27, 2013 Horton Hears A 'Who do you think will pay you that price' I'd be unsurprised to see a Canadian team shell out that dough for him.
Datsyukian-Deke 686 Report post Posted June 27, 2013 It seems like a lot of people here think we are going to get a top free agent this year for less than 4 million. If we want a Clarkson or a Horton we are going to have to pay for them. Neither of those guys are going to go for less than 6 million. People need to get that through their heads on here. 1 Nev reacted to this

Hudler gets 4 mil per. Flip gets 5 mil per. But we are going to nab Horton for Franzen money. Sure guy. 1 SaCkaveli20 reacted to this

No, you need to realise that mid-tier UFAs are "over-paid" under the CBA structure, and thats the way it is. Quality RFAs are under-paid because of the punitive compensation required for even a small offer sheet (1st and 3rd for $2 to $3M! 4 x 1sts for $5M+ !!!) F.Michael 2,689 Report post Posted June 27, 2013 Not crazy at all. Hes good. Well - for a guy capable of 60 points (give or take several points) - to me he's asking too much $$$... For a smaller cap hit - I'd rather have/keep Franzen.

Horton Hears A 'Who do you think will pay you that price' Canes - Isles - Panthers - aka teams that won't make the playoffs.

If the offer sheet rules were a little less, RFAs would make more and probably demand a little less once they hit UFA status.... some may be trying to make up for their lower RFA contracts with big money on the open market.
