8yr/$58m
I love it. Pretty much ensures the Pens won't be contender for 8 years.

A couplr of the tsn guys are saying 8yr 58mil. 7.25/yr.

Capgeek then tweeted that they have 7 guys signed for 44mil and if the cap stays the same this year(which it won't) they'll have 1.17mil to pay all the remaining players on their  team (not signed as of now)

Insanity.  7 8 players signed for $45.2 million in 2014-15.

Imma let you finish, and your cap numbers are all good and all that, but imma let Kenny figure it out. Kenny's cap numbers were the best cap numbers this year.

Personally I would have voted for Murray but what do I know, since the league has to play cocksucker for the Pens ...

Wow. Overpayment of the year for sure. I'm so glad we have Kenny. Dats, Z, and Kronwall's deals are all steals.

No this is smart just give those five guys 54 minutes of ice time a game. They will be fine!
I'm now reading that the deal is not quite done yet Per Lebrun

My guess is the cap ceiling will rise to accommodate the Penguins stupidity. Call it a hunch.

Sure it will rise again which is obviously a very good thing but having 7 players making up 75 % jof the cap is a hard pill to swallow unless the cap is reaching something like 80 million soon, they are not going to add much depth with that kind of money tied up on 7 players.

Im not so sure that it is such a good thing. Certain gm's will sign stupid big contracts then say they have no money which leads to another lockout which leads to another cap roll back. Some GM's need to stop betting that the cap will increase every year and throwing big money at players that don't deserve it.

How is this nobody worth $7+ mil / year?!

It still would be nice to have that one guy. (Jordin Tootoo, wish granted)

Wonder if Dupuis is available ?

Likely yes.  They can basically afford the rest of their players to be ELC's, and not max ELC money either.  GM of the year just for killing the Pens future.

This offseason will determine whether Ken Holland should still be employed with the Wings organization.

Please put Smith on the Power Play!

So they've got $8M left this season and 5 roster spots to fill.  UFAs include Iginla, Morrow, Cook and Dupuis.  Kennedy has already gone.  Next season Niskanen, Jokinen and Orpik are among the UFAs.

Their starting goaltender is still Fleury, who's still tying up $5M in cap space.  They could buy him out and put...........Bryzgalov?...in net?

"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk
