Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted September 9, 2013 The cynical conspiracy theorist in me thinks this "groin pull" is part of some bigger, evil plan to re-sign Cleary. I mean, a groin pull? Now? After all the skating he's be doing? After that prospects camp? Helm on LTIR. *cringe* Nyquist to Grand Rapids. *cringe* Cleary re-signs. *cringe*
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted September 9, 2013 Whatever had been bothering him has been doing so for a year. If this was an issue that could heal on its own with time, it would've been fixed by now. I am really worried that we won't see Helm play unless the problem is diagnosed and surgically repaired. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted September 9, 2013 Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive 9m Wings' Darren Helm said ultrasound on groin showed no significant damage. But he's not sure if he'll be ready for start of camp Thursday No significant damage, but still terrible news. Is this guy ever going to play in the NHL again? Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted September 9, 2013 No significant damage, but still terrible news. Is this guy ever going to play in the NHL again? Not that any part of this is "OK", but I'm glad the team has guys who play a similar type game (defensive, PK) as Helm. No one's going to be Darren Helm, but Ferraro and Sheahan are going to be capable bottom six, PK guys in the near future. Guess I'm just trying to look for a silver lining here... bleh. 1 MidMichSteve reacted to this

Copenhagen848 58 Report post Posted September 9, 2013 No significant damage, but still terrible news. Is this guy ever going to play in the NHL again? My call is that if Helm ever returns to the NHL, he will be a shell of his former self. His game is 100% crash and bang intensity, and he is a long way from returning to that form, if ever. I personally think his back injury is/was "career ending" so to speak. I hope I'm wrong.
Euro_Twins 4,476 Report post Posted September 9, 2013 Groin injury, probably due to his lack of skating and what not for so long, I don't anticipate this holding him back for long, it's his back I am more concerned with.
wingedominance13 112 Report post Posted September 9, 2013 The only problem with this is it makes me think Kenny is going to hold onto emmy a little bit longer.. however for those conspiracy theorists this may be kenny's way to sign Cleary........................ ........................ ........................ ........................ ........................ ........................ ........................ haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted September 11, 2013 That's a bummer. Now he won't get to test out his back during camp. “It’s going to be a couple of weeks where I’m not going to be able to get the physical contact or do stuff that I wanted to do,'' Helm said. “It’s kind of taken a back seat right now to this groin and (his back) feels all right right now. St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted September 11, 2013 Just when we all thought things were going well for Helmer then the groin injury. This a bummer indeed. I thought Helm doing camp was must for him. No rush indeed but his timetable for a return is still way up in the air. Gutted.
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted September 12, 2013 I think most people want him back badly but at this point I just hope he can enjoy his life painfree first and then think about hockey again. This just goes to show you how short or injury delayed a players career can be .(
