Any new Helm Updates?

Lots of stories say that barring a set back he will be ready.

And the article linked earlier was a little more cloudy. Helm might be ready by the season opener, he might not be.

And I just realized I worded my previous post wrong. I meant to say "if no trades, and if Helm isn't ready to go, he'll be LTIR'd, yadda yadda yadda". Sorry for the confusion. That's what I get for trying to make a coherent point in the forums on my iPhone...

I recently re-watched this on youtube the other day:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2k3qEnTlz8

It's been so long he's been out, I forgot what a force of a defensive center he was developing into. I hope he can get back to 100% and back to playing to his capability, his hands may never be the greatest, but with his drive, fire for the game and speed he brings, I know he'll add a ton to our current line-up.

He really exposes Campbell and Barker and how useless they are defensively. lol

While watching this at 6 am on my cell phone, in my bathroom, I found myself cheering for helm and hoping he would score lol

Helm, who has been battling back issues for the past eight months, has been skating regularly for a couple of weeks. Babcock said he “absolutely'' expects the third-line center to be ready for the start of training camp, Sept. 12 at Centre I.C.E. in Traverse City.

“I didn't see him today, so he must be doing really good,'' Babcock said. “He had another day off, I would assume. Things are going good for him. He must be ready to go.''

Puckloo39 told me about this LINK.

Asked if he was pain free he said, “Fairly.”

Helm did say he’s unable to lift like he has been able to in the past and that’s a level he needs to come close to before returning to the ice.

“I’m still a bit away from (squats),” Helm said. “That’s one thing I do want to overcome before I start playing again. I want to be able to do the stuff I used to do, maybe not to the extreme that I used to do, but I still want to be able to do some fairly heavy lifting. I’m not at that point yet.”

He doesn't sound too sure to me. :(

I'll be amazed if he's ready to go by, what is it, 10/2? That's less than a month away! Not complaining or anything, just saying.

I guess it all comes down to training camp, and how he handles the physicality.

My god, can this guy catch a break? Looks like him being on LTIR is part of the equation for getting two bodies off the team. I imagine that waiving Eaves will be the other half, since Emmerton is going to be used as that 4th C now.
