Some of the LGW members will like this:

Things got a bit interesting when I saw something I've never seen at development camp before... A fight. Nick Jensen had Tyler Bertuzzi tied up to the side of the net during the cross ice drills and Little Bertuzzi didn't like it, so he crosschecked Jensen in the back with more aggression than was necessary, and sent him down on top of the goalie (Eskelinen) who was to my right. The next time their lines were up for the cross ice drill, Tyler went after Jensen again, this time they tussled a little bit near the other goalie (Patterson) who was to my left, and Tyler almost knocked Nick's helmet off. Nick had some choice words for him and they separated. It was obvious there was still tension between them though, and about thirty seconds later they came together near center ice, dropped the gloves, threw punches, and had it out. The coaches let the players go until the fight was over. Jensen got the worst of it, but I'd say no real physical damage was done. I probably wouldn't put those two next to each other at dinner right away though. Jensen got the worst of the fight, and did go off the ice for medical attention.

Little Tuzzi is a firecracker! Guess Holland taking him with his bonus 2nd round pick isn't so bad now in everyone's favorite word...."hindsight". They'll be buddies in a couple years and look back and laugh at it. Competition is fierce is seems and that's a good thing. Now lets all imagine Tuzzi Jr on a line with Callahan......nice.

Sounds like the nephtuzzi has some sandpaper to him. Love it! Hopefully he's also got some hockey skills to back it up--would love to see him annoying the s*** out of the other teams in a few years.

Edit: and hopefully he'll be the only Bertuzzi on the team at that time.

If he is half the player Todd was before the Moore incident he will be a very good NHLer!

I thought he was slated for GR. but not a hundred percent sure I will try and find confirmation.

Here is the link I found. Per mlive he is gonna play in GR

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/05/red_wings_sign_defenseman_nick.html

That's what I needed to know.

Thank you.

His numbers in the WCHA (old) were pretty good.

He's an overlooked pick that I'm keeping my eye on IF he makes GR.

After today's scrimmage they interviewed Babcock and he said he liked what he saw, but that "other than Mantha, most the players had moments where they looked like prospects." Implying that Mantha never looked like a prospect out there. Really good to hear cause he will only improve. Maybe the kid wasn't so far off when he said he wants to make this team this year or next year.

Oh man. That would be awesome if Mantha made the team. Maybe he could be like Detroit's Saad.

saad never scored 50. Maltby did though :) I hope he is going to be a mix between Brendan and Hull.

Can't see that happening to be honest, but Babcock obviously loves the kid so maybe he could get a call-up as soon as this coming season?

Loving this, these guys are competing for a job in the near future so for sure they want to show everything they have at this level/sage in their career. Nice to read about a fight between two players, but this was a situation, which Jenssen couldn't win at all: either he beats mini Bertuzzi = > possibility of his uncle coming on the ice and taking care of business :( or losing against mini Bertuzzi and avoid his uncle -->better option. I really don't like it, when players are having such advantages.

Not surprised at how Babcock talked about them, they are for now just that prospects getting drafted is just one step and not the whole way. I think he has a very realistic view on this whole thing, only 6 out of 10 are having a chance to make it and even less will become regular NHL players - thats the sad truth of trying to step into the best league worldwide, it is incredible hard to accomplish.

I don't think Jensen thought about or cared that it was Bertuzzi's nephew and I'm sure Bertuzzi doesn't give a s*** either.

Here's some pics from the camp:

I must say, Sproul looks massive and Frk has a killer mustache.

I also like Homer being there doing drills and teaching kids how to play in front of the net.

If only one of these kids listen to Homer, that kid could well have 4 rings in the future ;)
