Guest The Axe Report post Posted July 23, 2013 (edited) NHL.com put together a list of a pseudo free agent all star squad. All of our players were on it. Even our slop (Brunner, Cleary, Colo, White) isnt all that bad. We have a good team. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=676637&navid=nhl:topheads Edited July 23, 2013 by haroldsnepsts to include link

ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted July 23, 2013 well let's get that Seattle expansion going and give them that team Still would need another team out west to balance things out then, maybe Kansas City. All divisions would have 8 teams & Seattle and Kansas City could have a bidding war for Cleary's services to drive Kenny out of the market for him.

That would just give Holland an excuse to trade Datsyuk and Zetterberg to free up cap space for Cleary.

I don't see how anyone could be opposed to this move, honestly. Cleary is a warrior who busts his ass every night. We're all gonna look back in 10 years and recognize how overrated Z and Dats are and wish we would have sold the farm for Cleary. He's a slam dunk.

Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted July 26, 2013 I might don't mind leftovers at all. Surprised half those names haven't been signed yet. That's cause most of the guys that were signed were given money as though the cap hadn't even dropped. GM's are still handing out large amounts of money and there's none left to sign the leftovers. Half or more of the teams are trying to shed salary including our Wings, so no one can give these guys what they're asking for.

Not an easy feat shedding salary though for the Wings I agree.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted July 28, 2013 A lot of familiar names on that list. At forward, guys like Hejduk, Prospal, Lombardi, Antropov, Sullivan, Boyes, Ponikarovsky, Fedotenko, Latendresse, Morrow, Raymond, and Miettinen can provide some decent secondary offensive punch. Plenty of solid grinders still out there with guys like Steckel, Knuble, Halpern, Smithson, Kobasew, Mayers, and Begin. On defense, guys like Lydman, Hainsey, Bergeron, Babchuk, Redden, and Whitney have offensive capabilities, although several of those guys play mediocre defensively. Also, plenty of shutdown guys still out there- guys like O'Byrne, Murray, Huskins, Fistric, Martinek, Eminger, Alberts, Vandermeer, and yes, Lilia is available, although he is a shadow of his former self. Add in Brunner and Cleary and there are a lot of interesting names still out there.

mackel 681 Report post Posted July 29, 2013 Here's a question for our cap/CBA experts. What happens if the Wings can't shed some salary before the season begins? Given the number of UFAs out there that are as good as what we want to cast off, and they would cost only their salary nothing back in trade. This might actually happen? MileHighWingsGuy 178 Report post Posted July 29, 2013 Not signing our RFA isn't an option. We are over the cap and have been in need of a trade for some time. Beginning to think its outside Holland's skillset. Go ahead Ken prove me wrong...please...
