Nyquistfan14 489 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 Was just wondering who you guys think will be are top shootout guys this year. With the additions of Nyquist, Tatar, and Weiss I feel we will be a lot stronger in the shootout. If I had to guess I would think are top 3 regular shooters would be Datsyuk, Nyquist, Weiss, followed by Z, Tatar, Alfy What do you guys think?

I'd say that we are going to be about the same skill-wise in the shootout, but I hope that I am proven wrong.

amato 3,210 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 Weiss, pav, Z.. followed by Bert, alfy, then the kids. At least to start the season. If they don't perform we do have plenty of decent shootout options. Hopefully we have some consistent scoring in the shootout

Guest Crymson Report post Posted July 24, 2013 Datsyuk Bertuzzi Zetterberg Z is below average at the shootout. That is why he is never used in the first three. 3 Hockeymom1960, Rick D and Hey man nice shot! reacted to this

ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 Has the NHL officially banned he spin-o-rama yet for the shootout? That might hurt Bert a bit given that it's his go to move. Still, I think he'll still wind up in the 2 spot behind Pavel if he's healthy. The next highest career shootout percentage mark on the roster I believe is Alfie so I see the order being Pavs, Bert, Alfie. Weiss career-wise is actually slightly lower than Hank's. Guest The Axe Report post Posted July 24, 2013 Bert can't play 65 minutes a night I'll give you that. Cool. So we're agreed on the No-Bert policy. We saw what happens when we let our youth develop. Why get away from that. Sticking Bert, Sammy, and Tootoo back in now is like asking to have a cancer come back.

ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 He still on the team and I don't think we will be able to trade him or sammy No Trade Clauses on both would make that rather difficult. Maybe for comedy purposes, they'll use Eaves in the shootout if he's still around. Shootouts.....hate them. Oh! You don't want my opinion, I am going with Pavel, Nyquist, Tatar... Hear you there. If the NHL keeps 'em, they need to adjust the points system: 2 pts for a reg/OT win, 1 for shootout, & 0 for a loss.

ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 What about 3-2-1-0 That works too, as long as they reduce the impact of shootouts & stop giving points out for losses. 1 Rivalred reacted to this
LeftWinger 4,949 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 That works too, as long as they reduce the impact of shootouts & stop giving points out for losses. I never understood rewarding a team for losing...it would probably never happen, but a team could lose all 82 games in OT or shootout, have 82 points and squeak into the playoffs as a 8th seed...a winless team in the playoffs...nice. Just get rid of the shootout and the 1 loser point.

Why get away from that. Sticking Bert, Sammy, and Tootoo back in now is like asking to have a cancer come back.Yes, because those 13 points that Tatar and Nyquist combined for really put the team over the top.Tatar was 26 in rookie ppg. For the forwards. Nyquist was 42. Most of the kids behind them played in under 10 games. Rookie toi/gm among rookie forwards who played 10+ games Tatar was 38 and Nyquist was 23. Neither are that physical and neither helped on special teams. They were pretty solid rookies. That doesn't mean they were good NHL players. No Trade Clauses on both would make that rather difficult. LeftWinger 4,949 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 2 for a win, 0 for a loss, 1 for a tie...hey, there a concept! Lets get back to tradition, stop rewarding a team for getting beat...the NHL has to be the only sport that has two sets of regulations for regular season and playoffs.
