Should have been against the Penguins purely to show them what class looks like.

Then Crosby might have to actually, y'know, shake Lidstrom's hand.

Anyway, what's more interesting to me is trying to predict which random, obscure Wings alumni will be present at the retirement ceremony?  Y'know, that guy you'd even forgotten was a Wing.  Kyle Calder?  Matt Ellis?  Sheldon Kennedy?  GMR is usually good at this kind of game.

"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk

Wonder if Daryl Bootland can get away to attend.  Just wouldn't be a party without him.

I'm betting we see Jamie Pushor, Jamie Macoun, Mattheiu Dandenault and maybe Mark Howe or Bob Halkidis.

Kuznetsov used to be one of Lids favorite roomies, too.

I'm sure he'll be there too, just seems like it would be easier if his current team were in town.

I'm pretty sure that Stevie will be there. Why the Lightning need to be in town for him to attend?

I expect a plethora of ex-Wings to be there. McCarty, Draper, Maltby, Osgood, Chelios in addition to the guys you mentioned.

How about Bob Rouse?

Was never in doubt. One of the top 5 defensemen to ever play the game and a career wing!

Well, I'm going to go with Sheldon Kennedy as by far the most likely out of those three.... considering that neither Ellis nor Calder ever played a game with Yzerman.

Took a couple weeks but I convinced the wife that we should get a half season ticket plan just to be sure to get tickets for this game. WIN!

Not that I think either will be there, but what does playing with Yzerman have to do with potentially attending Lidstrom's jersey retirment?
