U.S. beats Canada 5-1 in junior hockey exhibition

Our boy Paterson was in net for CAN.

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Quentin Shore had two goals and an assist as the United States beat Canada 5-1 Saturday in a world junior hockey exhibition match.

Canada finished 2-1 at its summer development camp, beating Sweden and Finland in Lake Placid before falling to the Americans.

Riley Barber, Ian McCoshen and Stefan Matteau also scored for the United States.

Sam Reinhart had the lone goal for Canada, breaking Jon Gillies' shutout bid.

Gillies made 24 saves for the U.S.

Jake Paterson stopped 20 shots for Canada.

No surprise here. The USA junior team just won gold recently. The young Americans are stacked! Keep it going boys!

Perhaps this is the USA's turn at dominance the way the Canadians did a few years ago. Canada will always be favourites, but they are in a sort of retooling phase where they don't have the same talent as years past.
