So happy goose is signed! That is also a steal of a cap hit. I expect big things for him this year. Also was just wondering If he was still considered a rookie and have the ability to win the Calder this year.

no, he is not considered a rookie or eligable for the calder.

To be eligible for the award, a player cannot have played any more than 25 games previously in any single season, nor have played in more than six games in each of two separate preceding seasons in any major professional league

Great Deal!

Now....do my trade Kenny!

Get Sammy off the books, then trade Emmerton, Quincey and Monster to the Island for Visnovsky and a pick. Bring up Coreau. Leaves $2.6M (roughly) in cap space, plus the roster is down to 14 FWDs.

sorry, I know this isn't a line thread, but here is my October healthy roster after my trade...

FORWARDS
Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Daniel Alfredsson ($5.500m)
Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) / Stephen Weiss ($4.900m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m)
Gustav Nyquist ($0.950m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Tomas Tatar ($0.840m)
Drew Miller ($1.350m) / Joakim Andersson ($0.733m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.800m)
Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) / Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m) /

DEFENSEMEN
Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Lubomir Visnovsky ($4.750m)
Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Danny DeKeyser ($1.350m)
Jakub Kindl ($2.400m) / Brendan Smith ($1.263m)
Brian Lashoff ($0.725m) /
\

GOALTENDERS
Jimmy Howard ($5.292m)
Jared Coreau ($0.925m)
------

(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,814,545; BONUSES: $3,192,500
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $2,677,955

As far as the trades go, I get the feeling well end up losing some guys for very little value. Low round picks or even cash.

I dont really see that being a problem as long as its not a great player which it obviously wouldnt be.

Great signing.

I imagine that will be it now till training camp. A player or two will almost certainly twang a groin then, and that will postpone the roster crunch for another day.

Agreed and even if there are no injuries, short term or otherwise, I doubt we'll see any roster moves until the very last days of the pre-season.

Don't know how we're gonna shed the cap. Aren't we about 2 mil over now?

We are $1m over now. If Helm starts on LTIR, Emmerton goes down. I suspect Tootoo will be waived also. That'll do it.

Now if we can only sign Brunner, and say "adieu" to Sammy, and Bert.

Not going to Happen Brunner wants to much and Sammy and Bert unfortunately arnt going any where no one wants them

That's a great price glade to have him. Now we'll have to see how we get down to the final roster

It's not so much that no one wants them then it is they both have a NTC.

Re-signing Bert with a NTC, signing Sammy with a NTC, overpaying for Tootoo given his term. Holland is now paying for his mistakes in 2012. It'll be interesting to see how the forward situation shakes out.

Time to get my jersey

Personally, I'd hold off on buying a Nyquist jersey till after this current contract ends. This is definitely a "prove it" kind of deal. And if he proves it, then buy his jersey. Otherwise, could be a little risky dropping $200+ on a player that's not quite fully proven yet.

#14 - Miroslav Frycer..... WTF was I thinking!!!! :D:hysterical: A whole 23 games played for Detroit....ugh!

Dude! That's original. I hope you still have it. It's a conversation piece.

Hopefully Nyquist will be more of a classic than a conversation piece.

I love this signing. For anyone wondering it's a one way contract so chances are very good he won't be in the minors this year. Also if he plays 2 more regular season games he is no longer waiver exempt. So he either starts in grand rapids or he'll be with the wings all year
