I prefer Bertootoosson.

As you wish, just so long as those three hoist the Cup this year.  That's all I really want.

Money on the board:  Current total: $6

$1 for a goal by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster.  An additional $5 for a series-clinching goal scored by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster. $5 if the other team fails to score against a current Wing goalie after whom I have named a hamster.

Hamsters I have had:  (current Wings highlighted)

Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

Niklas Matthew Daniel Robert

Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

Andrew Patrick Ian Todd

Jordin Damien Gustav James

I'd love to see Bertuzzi get a cup.
I don't care for Tootoo and I don't think he's worth his contract.

I think another newly acquired vet may have that potential honor locked up.

Datsyuk, Howard, kronner, all get before alfie

No.

If Dallas "freaking" Drake went before anyone else, why wouldn't Aflie?

According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

I could see Howard since it'll be his first, but Pavel and Nik have won it before.  I see Alfie just because he's waited so long and is the "big name", but it could just as easily be Howard if he is the guy who carries the team, or even Bert since he's been a Wing longer.  I keep forgetting Bert hasn't won it since he was with us and left before the last Cup.

Because of his role, I don't see Toots getting any special consideration even though it's his first, but I don't think that he's the kind of guy who is going to worry about it as long as he gets his turn.

All solid points, I just want to see dats hoist at least one more cup, and preferably get it from z.
Also I always believe conn smythe winner should hoist the cup at least 3rd or 4th, it kind of annoyed me how long it took quick to get the cup when the kings won, considering he was the main reason they won. So whoever the mvp is should be one of the first few to get the cup imo

Based on the available data, it's almost certain that Bertuzzi or Alfredsson would lead off.

Agreed.  People like Drake who have waited forever, or Cleary who was the first ___________ to win the Cup (in his case, Newfoundlander) should have a first crack, but the Conn Smythe winner should certainly be in the first few.

We're kind of putting the cart before the horse here, but I'll take this over rooting for a team that hopes they make the playoffs any day.

Oh, look, it's almost football season.... Go Lions!

Not a chance. Two of those guys have already won it all before anyways.

looking at Capgeek without any statements about the pros and cons of keeping a player, it just strikes me that Bert and Sammy are a financial liability....

The nice thing about that is next years UFA class (at this point in time) looks like a pretty decent list.

Not saying the WIngs should go after Jumbo Joe, but there is some decent talent heading to UFA next year.

And the Wings will have money to spend when they shed a few albatrosses of contracts!

"A wise man once told me, ‘Don’t argue with fools. Cause people from a distance can’t tell who is who'." Jay Z, Takeover

"When I was looking for a captain, I wanted a guy with the Red Wings crest tattooed on his chest," said former Detroit coach Jacques Demers, who named Yzerman captain in 1986. "Steve Yzerman was that guy."

“Told him if he wasn't ultra-competitive he couldn't come here. If he didn't bring it every day he couldn't come here, because he was going to hate it if he didn't, dislike the coach and dislike playing here.
“It's real straightforward. If you don't do it right, you're not happy here." Babcock

Forward wise it looks ok, defensively there isn't much there

every ufa class looks great when its a year or more away. by the time the ufa period finally gets here it will be the same as all other years. a few legit players that will get massively overpaid and then a lot of role players that get moderately to massively overpaid.

I love Maltby, but to say he wasn't a ****** is a dis-service to his career of douchebaggery.

Except they're not because they're balanced by kids with minimal salaries.

Oh this young man has had a very trying rookie season, with the litigation, the notoriety, his subsequent deportation to Canada and that country's refusal to accept him, well, I guess that's more than most 21-year-olds can handle... Ogie Ogilthorpe!

And then Tuzzi.  To hell with the rest of the NHL.  Tuzzi made 1 mistake and Konawalchuk jumping on him after is what delivered the crushing blow, but that's neither here nor there, Tuzzi would get the Cup after Alfie.  Lets just hope that these everts transpire and then we play the guessing game on who gets it next.  As for this threads point though, we won't have roster space for Cleary and Tootoo may get traded anyways.  What ever happened to him going back to Nashville?

This offseason will determine whether Ken Holland should still be employed with the Wings organization.

Please put Smith on the Power Play!

Preds look pretty set at forward to me. No big names (as always) but decently deep already. Don't think they're interested in Toots McGoots anymore.

Yeah shed a few contracts so they can re-up on Daniel Cleary

One more contract? Sammy? Are you crazy?

Eight more contracts, at least.

And then, when he finally does retire, his #37 gets raised @ "The Mike" (Mikael Samuelsson Arena).

Don't forget since he got screwed on the last one the next contract should include a no move clause and a raise
