Guest ForzaVerde Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Watch him carefully. We spend all our time chasing the puck in our zone when he is on the ice. This guy no longer helps the Wings as a player. He needs to hang them up.
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 He's our enforcer, and shootout ace. 4 55fan, wingedominance13, Hockeymom1960 and 1 other reacted to this
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 We'd also be stuck with a $2M cap hit for the rest of the season, when we're already $2.4M over the cap

This guy no longer helps the Wings as a player. He needs to hang them up. So last night that had nothing to do with the fact that he was on a line with the great Cleary and young pup Sheahan? I would take Bert and what he brings over cleary,sammy,eavs,emmerton...any day. It's preseason. 3 Hockeymom1960, 13dangledangle and Mors reacted to this
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 And take Franzen with him. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 4 Then we'd have no size up front.
turbowhistle86 155 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Bert has plenty to offer still....we'll want him during the shootout and the first time Orpik or Phaneuf lays out a speedy newbie forward of ours. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
hillbillywingsfan 792 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Then we'd have no size up front. I just don't get it why people want to get rid of all the size we have. Get even more weak on the puck and soft. Next you will see a thread to please trade E-rock off of the team. I'm waiting. 2 wingedominance13 and Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
amato 3,210 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 oh no, you mean bert couldn't do anything on a fourth line that won't even exist come the regular season? cut him. i like bert as much as anyone but really though, I don't really see a spot he fits until injuries occur.. he's not a fourth liner and unfortunately for him, we have better options for our top 6. Danielsm 244 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 If we need an enforcer, Tootoo has bee showing this preseason that he is at least better than Bert.
sleepwalker 512 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 So last night that had nothing to do with the fact that he was on a line with the great Cleary and young pup Sheahan? The way he played last night looked to me like it had little to do with being paired with those guys. It looked to me like his back was still pretty badly f***ed up. He usually uses his strength to hold off opponents with his hips or elbow, but last night he did neither of those.

13dangledangle 965 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Big Bad Bert isn't done. He's big, scary and can still make moves out there, like Hillbilly said I'd take him over a handful of players we currently have under contract....That being said this is probably it for him. Red Crazy 201 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 I could find you at least 6 guys off of last nights roster that played like crap AND are not coming off of a serious back injury. Give him some time. You will be glad that he is on the ice when ****** bags start slapping Pav and Z around. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
Hey man nice shot! 144 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Like Franzen or Bertuzzi use their size. bert is a year from retiring(my guess) and pitches in when he is needed, franzen pitches in when his ass is on fire from the coaching staff and or he feels like it. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this

Richdg 267 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Bert is done, but he will be on the team until he gets hurt again. After this season he is one of about 5 guys that will be gone. Wish him well in his future.
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 At least Bert had some balls to go after Webber when he smoked "Z"... At least Bert can score on SO... At least Bert can/will drop the gloved when/if needed... What about FRANCINE? At this point he's 4th liner without BALLS and HEART... 2 Hockeymom1960 and LidsFan reacted to this

Sycsa 43 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 Bertuzzi made the 2011-12 season for me, his shootout goals were among some of the most euphoric hockey moments I ever experienced, especially in the later stages of the home winning streak. I think he still got a few barrels left and he will be firing on all cylinders, provided he can dodge the injuries.
McAwesome 754 Report post Posted September 26, 2013 I'm Pro-Bertuzzi all the way, I highly doubt he is even considering retirement at this point. I say keep him in the bottom-six rotation, let him sit every 3rd game or so unless injuries necessitate him being in the lineup every day. We need to have a guy his size that is willing to stand up for teammates if they get run. Also, I'd like to see what he could teach a guy like Sheahan, big body with slick hands, if he could pick up some pointers from Bert he'd be on his way to becoming a legit power forward. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
