Leino out indefinitely with broken rib

I wouldn't have posted this except he was hurt in last nights game. Did anybody happen to notice when that might have occurred?

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Oft-injured Buffalo Sabres forward Ville Leino is out of the lineup once again, this time because of a broken rib.

Coach Ron Rolston announced Thursday that Leino is out indefinitely after he was hurt in Buffalo's season-opening 2-1 loss at Detroit a day earlier.

Rolston said Leino was hurt in the first period, but continued playing. The severity of the injury wasn't revealed until Leino was examined before practice Thursday.

More like: did anybody happen to notice Leino at all last night?

I totally forgot he played for Buffalo too.

$4.5 million a year for the next four years. And that's just the cap hit. His actual salary the last two years was $6 million/yr. Not to mention the first two years a lot of it was in signing bonuses. So he got paid $4 million in bonuses last year alone, regardless of the shortened season.

It still boggles the mind.

LOL

What was Buffalo thinking? I knew he was overpaid, but I didn't realize he was making THAT kind of cash. Damn...

I remember him getting hit along the boards by Kronwall. But it wasn't a big one.

Anyway, I'd say tough luck for the Sabres, but they're not going to miss his absence much.

I'm amazed he kept playing. Those things hurt, especially when you breathe.

Adrenaline often masks these things.

A branch of my family lives in Buffalo. They despise Darcy Regier. As far as I can tell, this is a majority opinion amongst Sabres fans. It is beyond me how this guy has lasted so long; he has little to show for it, and regularly makes terrible personnel decisions.

I'd say his worst of all was not letting Edmonton take Vanek in 2007. It's unlikely that Vanek would have pulled the Oilers out of the basement, so the Sabres would have had four (!!!) lottery picks coming their way. But he's made plenty of terrible moves outside of that. For example, the Hasek trade was awful for the Sabres; in exchange for a world-class goalie, Regier drew a late first-rounder (#30) and Slava Kozlolv, who was almost too lazy to skate at that stage.

Was he the person that took one of Alfie's shots in the stomach? I remember seeing it and the dude looked pretty hurt but kept on playing the rest of the shift. It may have been on a PP but I'm not sure if Leino plays PK
