Yeah we definitely need him. Our depth down the middle is pretty bad when we load up Z and D. Honestly our 2nd line looked great tonight, but Helm is ideal as 3rd line C.

At some point when Holland decides to do his job, this is what I'd like to see:

Z-D-Bert

Nyquist-Weiss-Alfie

Franzen-Helm-Tatar

Miller-Glendening-Abdelkader

Would you be ok with trading Andersson? I think it's something we should consider.

Unless Andersson doesnt develop. Move Miller, and play Glendening as a right wing. And That's coming from a Spartan, so you know it's good.

Babcock was talking about this. Not specifically with Miller but he said that he'd move glendening to the wing when helmer got healthy. I'd anticipate down the middle... pasha, Weiss, helmer and andersson. Also, Holland the other night on 97.1 that he'd ideally like to make at least one move but hoping on at least a couple.

I'm not necessarily in favor of moving Andersson. I just feel like space is already tight in the bottom six, and it will probably only get tighter with Sheahan and Ferraro making a push next season. And, re: Glendening moving to the wing, Abdelkader is officially a checker again, and Nyquist might be spending time in the bottom six.

I dunno. I just feel like maybe he could help fetch a decent return. Probably not, though.

I definitely like the idea of Sheahan and Ferraro on the team ASAP, but I wonder how likely the team would be to move Andy. Babs loves him. I guess we'll have to see who is let go out of the veteran players. I'd be interested to see something like:

Z-Dats-Alfie
Mule-Weiss-Nyquist

Tatar-Sheahan/Andy-Abdelkader

Miller-Helm-Glendening/Ferraro

Scratches: Glendening/Ferraro/Andy/Sheahan

This is assuming that guys like Bert, Sammy and Cleary are let go, obviously.

I'm with you on this. I really like Andersson, he makes a lot of right decisions on the ice. But if the return fits our needs then sure, why not ? We have enough (potential) bottom six players to compensate.

Helm is a better third line center than Andy by far

I would rather see nyquist brought up before anyone else.

I'd trade Andersson in a heartbeat. With Sammy and Cleary sucking it up I feel that Andersson gets a pass for his underwhelming start. I know the guy is relatively responsible with the puck and kills penalties but for a third line center he has been fairly invisible lately. He also sports a -5 on the year and has 6 points, the wings need more production from the third line center for secondary scoring to pick up. Now I don't advocate trading him because he is still young and cheap he also has size the Wings badly lack. However I'd like him to be benched for a game or two in Favor of Glendening or at the very least drop down to the fourth line and have Glendening center the third line. Of course I would prefer Nyquist there but the team just doesn't have the cap space to bring him up.

When the Wings are healthy the 2 and 3 spot centers will be Weiss and Helm with Andersson on the 4th line, I believe.

You're right but I'm talking more about with Weiss out. Andersson has had plenty of time on that third line and he hasn't performed so he either needs to take a breather in the press box or be moved to the fourth line until Weiss gets back. And when Weiss is healthy I'd like to see Glendening get a shot to center the fourth line. I'm not saying bench Andersson forever just give someone else a chance.

I feel like Andersson really needs consistency between his wingers. He showed much more with consistent linemates last season. This can be showcased when he's with Tatar; immediate chemistry. He's been the victim of line switching while still being a rookie. Put him with linemates he knows and work hard and he really shines. Babcock does love him and his defensive side of the game. He does rock out on the PK also.

You may be right but Andersson seems to fit more with a guy like Miller. I think we can all agree Tatar should get top six minutes. Plus coaches juggle lines all the time and you have to be able to adjust quick if you play center.

I like Andersson's size. Beyond him, we're small down the middle. (Datsyuk, Weiss, Helm, and Glendening are all listed as 5'11. I think Weiss is secretly 5'10 or maybe even 5'9.) And I do like his game. But he's kinda...vanilla? Which on most teams would be a great thing, but on this team, where nearly every forward is a defense-first two-way specialist....

But now I'm kinda derailing the thread.

I don't think it's derailment, it's more like evolution.

Heh, well, in that case...

My other concern about Andersson is the inevitable postseason Datsyuk-Zetterberg breakup. When it happens (and we all know it will happen), we'd we'll have Datsyuk on the first or second line, Zetterberg on the second or first, Weiss on the third, and Helm on the fourth. But then, maybe this is a phantom problem. Maybe - after how many years? - we'll finally have solid secondary scoring. (Or maybe Z wold just play wing on his line?)

Which brings me to my next thought.

Franzen - Helm - Tatar. This line has been great for us. It was a revelation in the first period of the Caps game. So what do we do when Weiss and Alfie return? Maybe...

Zetterberg  Datsyuk  Bertuzzi

Franzen  Weiss  Tatar

Abdelkader  Helm  Alfredsson

Miller  Andersson  Glendening

Absolutely yes.  I would move Andersson cause I believe Glendening is a better player.  I would attempt to move Quincey and I would not re-sign Miller again as soon as UFA season opens.

In no way, shape or form would I break up a line that has Franzen playing good and doing actual hockey related things aside from floating.  When Weiss and Alfredsson are back, they beef up a 3rd line that tonight will spotlight Cleary and Sammy.

Z-Dats-Tuzzi

Mule-Helm-Tatar

Abdelkader-Weiss-Alfredsson

Tootoo-Glendening-Eaves

Bye to Andersson via trade, Cleary in the press box where he belongs along with Sammy.  Tootoo and Eaves come back up cause they're better 4th line energy guys than Miller, Cleary, Sammy or even Andersson who isn't bad, but just hasn't been that impressive this year.

Dan Cleary is an Xbox 360.  While good for a while, it's time for the new generation to take over.

I'd be open to trading Andersson as well. We have Sheahan who can step into a bottom 6 centre spot. In a year or two we will see Jarnkrok up too. I would say Andersson is a good player - but lacks high end speed which limits him offensively. I believe that Sheahan can be more effective at the NHL level and I would argue that speed is very important to have as a bottom 6 centre. Andersson could be sent to a team starving for centres as part of a package for a dman or maybe return a lower round pick (which we could use to trade for upgrades elsewhere). I just don't see Andersson progressing much further than he has.

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?

...at this point we have almost tried everything but this, what do we have to lose at the point? More games lol, but seriously when Wiess returns we could get a spark out of it. Play him with who's hot and get this big red machine rolling

Zetterberg Wiess Datsyuk
Franzen Helm Alfredsson
Nyquist Andersson Tatar
Miller Abdelkader Bertuzzi
