a guy that just got handed the keys to a Zetterberg and a Datsyuk and he's going to drive them like he stole them.

Where can I purchase one of these Zetterberg and a Datsyuk vehicles? Definitely sounds like something a gal like me should be driving...

Oh goodness! You really aren't trolling with that statement!.....that was actually nice.

Go check out the HF Ottawa board it is currently in full meltdown, well it has been for 2 weeks but it is just gaining stream game after game.

The whole team is in free fall.

No one has an answer because Alfie used to show us the way. Spezza is being villifed as a captain, they are calling him Captain Lazy- brutal effort tonight.

Slow slow slow leads to cheating leads to penalties, I think we have spent the most time on the PK by a wide margin.

Karlsson is trying but some of the first step and pivot that made him so special is for now gone and he's blowing a gasket frustrated.

It's a mess right now and no leader to show them the way. They are missing their former captain in ways that no one fully appreciated.

It's a tough time to be a Sens fan when you lose to Edmonton and make the Devils look really tough.

Luckily the Red Wings Phoenix game is on centre ice free tonight-my other 2 go to teams.

;)

Sorrry to hear that.

But I can easily see your guys getting ultra-pumped for Wednesday's tilt and slaughtering us. It feels almost inevitable to me.

Nope, not going to happen. I'd love to say hell ya but I can't, I'm a fan but I'm also a realist and I'm not going to pump Ottawa's tires needlessly.

My prediction is the Sens are going to be pumped and each and every player is going to try and win this game themselves. More penalties will follow. They will be nervous playing against Alfie- they all hold him in high esteem and will focus on him. No one will be watching the other Detroit players.

Playing Detroit is not going to make all their lack of effort and team chemistry issues go away.

Adding on the fact that Alfie has always left it all on the ice and although he would never say it publicly he's going to want this win to send a message to Sens management.

I'm not mailing you the win but it's not going to be pretty.

See, but you're using logic. When we want to lose, nothing stands in our way - not even (or, especially not) logic. See: last night.

Or, I dunno, maybe I'm just bitter/scarred from the whole Hossa thing (we beat Hossa and the Pens for the Cup. Hossa signs with us. The Pens beat us - and Hossa - for the Cup. Insanity.)

I did browse through your HF boards. I won't patronize you and say, You guys will be fine, etc. But I WILL say this: your HF boards, in some places, read just like ours. Like, discipline problems? Too many stupid, lazy penalties? Too many shots on goal against? Wings have the same issue. Young guys who should be up on the Big Team but for whatever reasons aren't? You have yours, we have ours (Tatar, Nyquist). Lazy, uninspired play? We do that every few games, if not more often. (See: our losses, including last night. Digusting.)

I like the Sens. They've always been #2 or 3 for me behind the Wings. Though obviously I don't follow them very closely. So I really do hope things turn around. And, honestly, I have faith they will (if only because I know MacLean is a great coach who won't settle for mediocrity).

One thing I want to ask: What's the deal with Spezza? I think I'll leave the question open-ended like that.

Ok, I get what you are saying and as a newbie to the Wings forum I defer to you on this but....as Phoenix is my #2 team ( gotta have a west coast go to ) I do have some knowledge of them and last nights win wasn't out of the ordinary for a Mike Smith Phoenix team. They always seem to have these bermuda triangle games that while crazy are not to be counted on. I'll admit I went to bed last night in a Red Wings coma thinking they had that game salted away only to awake to the shocking news. Bermuda triangle stuff. Forget about it. You aren't in the west anymore, you don't face them again in the foreseeable future. Time to put on your east coast hats.

Quote < Or, I dunno, maybe I'm just bitter/scarred from the whole Hossa thing (we beat Hossa and the Pens for the Cup. Hossa signs with us. The Pens beat us - and Hossa - for the Cup. Insanity.)

We are also Hossa scarred as well. I remember him as a youngster getting sent down with the deer in the headlights look and then sideswiping his SUV into the queensway barrier and coming into my work all freaked wondering what to do. Truly a down to earth good man. Enough said but you are again in the East now. No Hossa in heavy doses.

Quote <You have yours, we have ours (Tatar, Nyquist)

No, I'd disagree. We are not up against the cap with veterans on the trailing edge taking up a roster spot that a good youngster could fill although if you'd take Michalek off our hands I'd be eternally grateful. We can't even get Zibanejad to be interested enough to take spot that is there waiting for him. It looks like a game of Bingo in Bingo. B-4 ok, your in!

Like, discipline problems? Too many stupid, lazy penalties?

I hope I'm wrong but we seem to have drafted the same type of plugger time and time again. Slow slow slow. No emotion. I know you might come back with Conacher and Pageau but really-should we be looking at them as leaders? Complimentary players at best.

I have faith they will (if only because I know MacLean is a great coach who won't settle for mediocrity).

A great signing that I hope in the long term will model us after the Detroit way but that takes time and I hope he doesn't burn out.

One thing I want to ask: What's the deal with Spezza? I think I'll leave the question open-ended like that.

Nothing is wrong with Spezza, he's the player that he's always been. I think he was the obvious choice as he's an elite player and they want him to re-sign with the Sens. What could they do? Snub the guy? I just think that Alfie is a really hard act to follow and Spezza although gifted isn't that guy and his game isn't suited to him being that guy. The alternative was Phillips who is a heart guy but his game is all but gone, so they took a gamble.

Right now there are fundamental issue to be worked out and playing their net 4 games staring with a pissed off Detroit team isn't the way to fix them. I hope I'm wrong I really do.

One think I will add is that I know it's hard to take off your West coast hat but you guys really need to. The East is not like the West in terms of competitiveness. You will get your wins whether you play good, bad or ugly. I'm happy to see so much angst and high standards but the more you feed off the East the happier you will be. For this season at least. I'm no Pens or Bruins fan and if Alfie puts on a clinic in those games I will be lighting candle under Joe Thornton's picture.

Quickly to add Alfie was the consummate captain. He took the heat and he took the applause. He scored, passed, hustled, backchecked. He left it all on the ice, that's why he was such a successful captain. I guess if they'd have asked him to play defence he's have done that too. He is a 75% guy, a balanced player. Never says well I don't backcheck because I score. Kind of like Yzerman(with respect) when he went from a pure offensive player to a well rounded 200 ft player for the betterment of his team and thus a HOF player.

Alfie was that guy, right now Spezza is not. The future remains to be seen.

Whoooa, sorry, SensViking! I didn't know you'd responded! Thanks for that.

I recently read an article about Spezza and how he was trying to make the "Yzerman transition," or whatever the author called it. Props to him for that.

I always get a kick out of the thought that Yzerman almost became a Sen - and that it would've been Bryan Murray (of all people!) shipping him to Ottawa.

It would really be more like the "Lidstrom transition". I would think any reasonable Sens fan (and they seem to represent the vast majority of Sens Nation) wouldn't expect Jason Spezza to play and lead like Daniel Alfredsson. They would expect him to play and lead like Jason Spezza.

Interesting possibility regarding Yzerman. That would've been one of the great coincidences in hockey. Can't say I'm displeased it didn't come to pass, however :P
