Does that mean I have to root for the Canucks?

Sometimes the Wings moving to the East makes me do things I feel icky about.

Unfortunately, yes.

I'll root for anyone before I root for the Pens.

Speaking of overrated goalies (and I totally agree about Smith. And then there's his theatrics)...is it me, or is Luongo...really not very elite?

Per Khan:

Samuelsson will be on the second power-play unit.

“Not because Toots did anything wrong,’’ Babcock said. “Without Kronner on the power play we want to put Sammy in to have a power play guy.’’

That makes sense. Although our Point-Guys weren't that effective. I wonder if it would be a better choice to shift someone like Z or Dats on the Point and keep Tootoo  in the Lineup instead of Sammy.

I think those were basically the D pairings from last game.

Dekeyser Ericsson looked surprisingly good given his relative inexperience.  But the other two pairings are a little scary.

I'm surprised people aren't talking more about just how good Dekeyser has been.  The kid has played 21 total games in the NHL, and when Kronwall got injured last game, Dekeyser played more minutes than any other D man.

Danny was my second pick of D men in my fantasy league right behind Subban.  He's been a beast.  LOVE it!

Can't wait to read the "Phoenix: I still think it's a hockey market" chapter of Gary Bettman's autobiography. I'm guessing it's going to be chapter 11.

Pens win. I hate them.

Whoa, Z is third in scoring. He trails Steen and Crosby.

Crosby has 17 points. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Because when Babcock speaks, Sammy gets the point.

Get it?  Power play?  Point?  :hysterical:

Ok, it wasn't that funny.

Money on the board:  Current total: $8

$1 for a goal by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster.  An additional $5 for a series-clinching goal scored by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster. $5 if the other team fails to score against a current Wing goalie after whom I have named a hamster.

Hamsters I have had:  (current Wings highlighted)

Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

Niklas Matthew Daniel Robert

Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

Andrew Patrick Ian Todd

Jordin Damien Gustav James

Jebus Christ why did they have to put Sammy in. the guy is a bad omen I swear. Helm needs to hurry up and come back so Sammy can sit like he's supposed to. I'd rather they keep Toots in on the fourth and just let somebody else get some point time on the PP. I mean have we seen any amazing point play from Sammy as of late anyway? If we have then my bad, but I choose to look away when I see him jump onto the ice.

If it goes to a shootout, Wings need to go high glove side on Smith.  I caught the end of the Yotes game against the Ducks and Smith drops his glove hand at the last second every time.  He got burned on it 2 times in the shootout alone.

He's such an overrated goaltender.

He's also basically Hextall-lite with his temper.

@AnsarKhanMLive: Looks like Howard is ready to go after missing three games with bruised hand.

@AnsarKhanMLive: Now Samuelsson skating with 4th line and working point in 2nd PP unit. So maybe he's in for Tootoo. We'll see.

Good Christ.

Phoenix is not an overly physical team.

Re: Sammy being in, I'm assuming Kindl is getting promoted to the first PP unit, leaving a hole on the second unit.

Looking forward to this one. Played poorly vs the Yotes last time around. I think the boyz won't let that happen tonight. Fingers crossed. Yotes just played last night so hopefully that plays into our favor.

Not too sure about Sammy being inserted but it is what it is.

Hopefully Brendan can get something going for himself tonight. He needs to step it up big time...

We've won 4 in a row playing the same group of forwards. No need for change imo.

Why not give Smith a spot on a 2nd PP unit instead of Sammy...

so smith sucks defensively, and he also sucks offensively so they can't play him on the point.

brendan smith, what exactly is it that you do?  are you good at anything?

He's played 66 games in the NHL.

How good were Kindl, Ericsson, Quincey, or even Kronwall 66 games into their career?

Smith unfortunately has to develop on an already inexperienced blueline.  Those other guys (especially the first two) got to develop under a very solid defensive corps.

Not to mention they also got extended time with #5 still on the team.

I hate the Sammy in just to play the point on the PP. He brings nothing to it other than the ability to destroy shinpads. I would take any of the regular 6 dman on the point instead of Sammy. It also kills the 4th line which other than the top line has been Detroit's best the last 4 games. Lotsa games in a short time for the Wings + Sammy change I wouldnt be surprised to see the team regress and the Coyotes take this one 2-1.

What does Sammy bring on the 4th line...except cap issues
