That helps, but he was very good last year also.

Absolutely.  That was more a "he's going to be due a raise due to his good play" comment, than something accusing him of only playing well because of the contract year.

Yay, 2-0

Why not give it to Alfie for tonight?

My guess is that the equipment staff didn't bring any extra "A's" for the jerseys on the road trip.  With Kronwall being out for a week or so, we might see a 2nd "A" when the Wings play at home again...

PK upcoming.  Kindl for slashing.

I've probably missed this but where has Mickey Redmond been? Not a of fan of Ozzie doing commentary...

Another average save or three by Howie to end the period.

Mick hasn't done road games for a while due to his disease.
It's pronounced "Zim" not "Exim". Aw heck with it, just call me Scott.

Mickey usually stays at home on long road trips.  Prior to getting fired, Larry Murphy usually handled the color commentary duties on long trips.  Though, after the firing, Redmond was on the road for all games last year.

Redmond has Celiac Disease, which means he needs gluten free meals, which can be hard to find on extended road trips.

Anybody else notice Jimmy having a really hard time seeing the puck?

Decent first period. Great being up 2-0 but let's not sit on it. Thought we let up a bit there at the end of that period.

My guess is that he'll get Kronwall money, if for a shorter term.

- Incredible start - but Quincey's stupid penalty killed all of our momentum

- Stop taking stupid penalties

- We have had some absolutely phenomenal goaltending in this young season

- We've also had a whole lot of luck, mostly re: pucks somehow not finding their way into our net

- I had a dirty dream about Shannon Hogan earlier. Hurray for naps

I love Mickey, but I kind of dig Ozzie doing the color on the road. It's cool having someone a bit younger that isn't THAT far removed from his playing days giving some insight.

You gotta be the QB to win the MVP baby! You can't be the punter.

Yay, 2-0

Why not give it to Alfie for tonight?

He'd be a good choice.  I could also see some of the veteran Wings (Cleary, Bert).  You'd think they'd have packed an extra A, just in case.  Or just borrow one from a Canadian, eh.

They can't magic marker one on?

Money on the board:  Current total: $6

$1 for a goal by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster.  An additional $5 for a series-clinching goal scored by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster. $5 if the other team fails to score against a current Wing goalie after whom I have named a hamster.

Hamsters I have had:  (current Wings highlighted)

Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

Niklas Matthew Daniel Robert

Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

Andrew Patrick Ian Todd

Jordin Damien Gustav James

My bet is slightly less, Kronners getting 6 Mil this year, Ericsson will get more around 5. But he'll get a raise for sure.

Brendan Smith is a disaster. First he lets Doan get past him, and then hooks him when Doan would NOT have scored from that close in.

That's a weak call for a penalty shot.  Smith was right with him..  He wasn't clear of Smith.

Penalty shot for Doan. Smith had to take Doan. He wasn't really clear, iffy call.

Stopped by Jimmy!

Babcock is such a bullheaded idiot sometimes.

He continues to play Smith and Quincey together, despite not only a lack of chemistry, but constant mistakes and blunders when they're on the ice.

According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

Quincey was the team's best defenseman against the Avalanche.
