As per Khan, all lines are getting the shake up for tomorrow's game. www.mlive.com/redwings
It will be interesting to see what Tatertots can do with Hank!
Thoughts?

it could hardly be worse than the Ottawa game, in terms of production.  Why not?

I don't mind them splitting up for the time being, but I would prefer Zetterberg stay on the wing...since...you know...he's the only winger that seems to be capable of scoring goals.

For sure. I was at that game....nice waste of 6th row seats! Lol
Anyway, they have to do something because everyone is flat. I have serious doubts about Mule and Tatar together.....they both aren't really strong defensively so that line could either be lethal in a good way or in a horrible way. Bert has always played well with Pavel...but Pavs makes everyone better. The 4th line is solid.
The third line is like an online dating site -- random people lumped together who probably don't compliment each other, have no mojo and at the end of the night, nobody is gonna score :P

I have serious doubts about Mule.  Period.  This is not recent with me, however.  I find myself wishing for Nyquist.

And E and Kronner back, please???

This really all falls on Weiss. The Red Wings haven't been able to play the Euro-Twins consistently together for years now because they didn't have a second line center that produced enough. They are fine apart, but better on the same line as we have all seen them carrying the team offensively to start the season.

I'm not giving up on Weiss yet, but the whole point of his signing was to give the Red Wings more secondary scoring. To be fair, nobody outside of Alfredsson has done much either to help the Euro-Twins.

I don't understand and I simply never WILL understand why Franzen is the only guy on this team that never seems to be held accountable. Babs will demote guys like Weiss, Hudler, Flip, Brunner, Alfredsson and other talented players to the 3rd line when they are not showing up. I can think of twice that Franzenfloat has been demoted in the last 5 years. It appears that Babock thinks Mule is one shift away from that magical 2008 run. Let it go man.....He's lazy, inconsistent, erratic and uninspired. I for one am getting a bit tired of watching the guy stroll around out there like he's out for a Sunday walk and not being called on his sh@t.

Wasn't he supposed to be this major upgrade over Filppula?  What was it that Babcock said about Flip, sometimes the devil you know is better than the one you don't?

As much as I love watching Z and Dats play together, I really think these new lines are overall much better and wisely chosen. Especially with Abby finally being on the 3rd line where he belongs.

I actually kinda like the third line. Like J.J. @ WIiM said, it's sort of a Grind Line throwback dealy, at least on paper.

Don't we see this every year? Saying goes "It's great to finally have Z and Dats on the same line."

Until we stop scoring. Then they are broken up.

Expected and hopeful to see results.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all of Draper, Maltby, and McCarty were able to skate, shoot, and hit, none of which Cleary can do anymore.

Maybe not Draper ;)

Anyway, since the other 3 lines have scored about 2 goals between them, it was alas only a matter of time before Pav and Hank were split up.  Will they drag the others up to their level, or will they be dragged down?

"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk

I actually firmly believe mule will start producing with z setting him up. However, it would be more suited for him to play with Datsyuk, and alfie with z, but I digress.

These two have seen more split-ups than a divorce court.  Just do something that will put Cleary out of the mix, and maybe things will improve.

In Babcock's defense, I don't think it's a matter of putting Franzen on a lower line, but who do you put up on the top 6?  He's tried nearly every one of the bottom six players on the top lines, and none of them have really taken the ball and run with it.  Like it or not, Franzen is a highly streaky player, and will do nothing for weeks and then score 8 goals in 5 games, then go back to being invisible for a month or two.  It is what is.  Wash, rinse, repeat.
