DO SOMETHING HOLLAND. We have loads of kids with talent waiting for a shot. Holland needs to make some room somehow - even trading highish picks with players to clear out space (we have enough kids in the farm for now). I don't see this just magically turning around. The only saving grace is that helm comes back and miraculously makes everything gel but its unlikely.

Awful home stand in every regard.

Get Nyquist up immediately. It's beyond ridiculous at this point seeing how limited this team is offensively.

absolutely pitiful how we've now played like complete crap the last 2 games against teams that should have been beatable, or at least not get humiliated by

we've given up 30 or more shots(40 twice) in 8 of 12 games so far

I could go on with all our other problems, but it'd take too long

what will it take to wake this team up?

Well an expectedly terrible end to that terrible game.

I don't want us to win an OT game until Babcock puts Tatar out there, and Nyquist when he gets up.

Like, does he remember the OT goal Brunner and Nyquist combined for? He trusted them in the OT in the playoffs but he can't trust Tatar in a regular season OT?

As for the game as a whole, wow. A half-decent 1st period, a pretty good PP, but just about nothing to be glad about otherwise. Well Howard was great and Tatar, if nothing else, shows he deserves to play by the way he chases the puck and skates harder than just about anyone else.

We have work to do, lots of it.

Usual awards ceremony:

Best Forward: Henrik Zetterberg. He brought his usual assets to the game. Datsyuk had an off night. Alfredsson gets an honorable mention; he had a very good game as well.

Worst Forward: Daniel Cleary. Cleary was dreadful once again. His inability to properly skate, pass, or shoot obliterates the offense potential of every line he is on. He is likewise unable to defend or grind, making him completely useless on the ice. His presence is to the severe detriment of this team. Joakim Andersson gets the honorable mention for having a likewise terrible game. He was nearby the goal-scorer on both Rangers goals but failing to impede each of them. The Rangers nearly scored another goal while he was on the ice during overtime.

Best Defenseman: Danny DeKeyser. He was solid. Honorable mention goes to Niklas Kronwall, who was likewise pretty good.

Worst Defenseman: Kyle Quincey. After playing quite well in three of the past four, Quincey’s performance took a dump again; he took two idiotic penalties, wasted several good scoring chances, and blew coverage on the game-winning goal. In possibly related news, he was paired with Smith again, though this was not the case on the overtime goal. Honorable mention goes to the latter.

MVP: Jimmy Howard. This was an obvious choice.

Goat: Kyle Quincey. Though I'd have loved to give this to Cleary---and would have, if not for how the game ended---this choice was an obvious one as well.

Overall grade: D. The Red Wings are playing awful hockey. This starts with the defense. It is beyond me why so many shots are being surrendered this season; this was especially on display tonight, and to give up so many opportunities to an injury-devastated Rangers team was inexcusable.. Offense was poor also. The team is highly disjointed, and I do not know why. It has the tools needed to win, as it proved earlier on.

Agreed with your entire post until that line. I think we're an average team, like last season. We'll have some winning streaks (like earlier), followed by streaks like this.

I'm disappointed, but not surprised, since I don't think we have all the tools to win. Unless by "tools", you were talking about another interpretation of that word, like Cleary, Sammy, Quincey, Smith, Bertuzzi, Weiss, etc.

From the middle of the second period on a part of me was hoping that the wings would lose this game. They shouldn't be rewarded in the standings at all for this type of play. Completely outclassed by , points wise, one of the worst teams in the league without two of their best players....Pathetic

Is Babcockf******

High..... 40 ticks left in OT let's play Weiss, miller, Quincey and deke.... Hahahahha joke

Yes, it was truly awful to play two defensive forwards and the team's best defenseman of the game. Quincey was a bad choice, I grant you.

I'm afraid of Holland doing anything. He's like a drunken doctor right now, being asked to perform a surgery.

He's made so many bad moves over the last few years, that I'm worried what he'll do next.

As others mentioned, how are Weiss and Miller on the ice in that situation? Tatar didn't play at all in OT, but is one of the few forwards on the team that would be especially dangerous with more ice. Bertuzzi gets benched, but Cleary keeps playing every single game with no negative consequences. Babs is limited by the personnel, but his constant line-changing and questionable decisions aren't helping.

What a disappointing start to the season.

Pathetic game. The fact that we lost to a rangers team that is without its all star goalie, best forward and its captain, is a joke. Many things were evident this game.

The lines had no jump until the 3rd when babs finally put the euro train line back together.... All of them were fantastic tonight.

Kindl continues to give the puck up way too much. Quincy had a awful game... In the overtime alone Quincy pinched at least twice and got caught. I thought kronners, danny d and Smitty all had solid games.

The big problem remains all the forwards not named pavs, hank, Alfie, Abby, Tatar. No one is getting goals and that is what we need. I thought Weiss looked solid tonight so hopefully that is a good sign.

Going forward it is clear Kenny needs to freaking get Nyquist up to give babs some help. I'd love to see Weiss play with Tatar and Nyquist I think they could generate us some offense. Bottom line, this team has lots of work to do.

no better defensive forwards on the team better than Z and dats. how you keep weiss and miller out there is beyond me.

Quincey really screwed the pooch on that last play. But I feel DD screwed up by abandoning the open man. Generally, on. a 2 on 1 the defenseman should cover the open man so the goalie can come out to challenge the shooter.

I really hope HBO has there cameras on at this game. Could just imagine Babs erruption.

I blame HBO for all of this. The distractions from the cameras following them all the time, are preventing players like Cleary and Weiss from performing properly.
