I'm usually a very very Optimistic fan but lately this team has been making me the opposite. I still think were a deep team and a cup contender IF we ice our best line up. It is getting to the point where I am questioning our GM and Coach (who I have ALWAYS supported and trusted) but at somepoint there is a breakin point. At this point just name it though. Samuelsson, Cleary, Bertuzzi, Quincey??? Nyquist in the AHL, Tonight 40 seconds left and you Ice. Weiss (who is still obviously struggling, Miller (who I love but are you trying to win???) and Quincey (how he cost us a first I have no idea) plus deke... yes awesome but still what has played 20 regular season games... how is that EVER an overtime line up...??? I feel like this team half the time is lets see how many times we can fail putting a line up together before we succeed.

I belive Weiss will find his step, I believe we are a cup contender, and I LOVE Babcock but at some point you need to make a change and it might be now... Cleary doesn't belong on our roster, Nyquist does, Andersson is at best a 4th line center, (Last 3 goals against him were his man Phoenix and now Zuccarello) Bertuzzi is too slow for this league. Weird how the avs are tearing up the league, I bet it has nothing to do with speed... right... which we have 0 of.

I love the wings and Im no where near a pessimist but at the end of the day the big, slow rangers line up is Babcocks dream team, and we need a fast quick skill team which we wont Ice...

Let's face it coaching is a huge problem and has been for years. You have to beg these players to get excited to play against mediocre teams. That was one of the worst games I've ever seen Datsyuk play and he carries a lot of blame. It's blasphemy to say anything negative about zetterberg and Datsyuk because they carry this team but they have been just as bad as Franzen and Cleary effort wise. Team has given up the last 3 games I've watched.. This is terrible hockey any way you look at it

It seems ridiculous right now but a change of coach would work wonders on this team it's exactly what they need. What kind of strategy and gameplay is Babcock installing on this team. It's Jekyll and Hyde and that is a coaching issue and always has been

As much as there is blame to the coaching, I think one of the problems is that there are too many games in the regular season schedule and hard to motivate players to go hard every single time. Bring it down to like 60'ish games and players will know that each game counts for more. This also gives them more rest in between and hope they play hard on most nights. But nights like these, if I went to game as a paying customer, I'd consider it money flushed down the toilet. I'd be pissed.

I am really starting to think the DetroitRedWings as a whole organization are becoming too sure of themselves. Let's face it, Kenny hasn't had to change a lot for a long period of time but now the times are changing and he needs to change his approach. Filling up an already veteran loaded team with more veterans isn't the way to go but Babcock is also to blame here, the DetroitRedWings needed a pure goalscorer - screw defense someone has to put the puck into the net right? - for some years now once they've found one, Kenny didn't re-sign him because of a different ~ 500.000 on a two year basis...but yet signed Alfie and Weiss to such ridiculous contracts.

The defense is becoming younger and more mobile good thing but a true #1 defenseman might be needed in the future (I know they are hard to get thanks to the damn parity), although right now I think Babcock is asking way too much out of Kronwall and the guy is clearly playing out of his comfort-zone (he has to :( ).

The top 6 is basically a top 2 Z and Pasha and after that the lack of talent is more than obvious, asking guys like Andersson, Tatar and Nyquist to carry the load right now would be too much but why not let these 3 grow together on the third line? It worked wonders last year and the bottom 6 not only is lacking identity they are lacking speed! Which brings me to another point, how can Babcock insist on playing puck-possession when the defense doesn't have the perfect human or Rafalski to provide the breakout pass? is it stubborness, mandate from above ?

The good thing is, Kenny and Babcock are paid well and both are smart people so hopefully they are going to figure things out, if the on ice play doesn't improve start a more aggressive rebuilt and sell some veterans for picks or complementary guys like Orr, McLaren or Scott.

I mean, losing against the Rangers shouldn't be a big problem but against a Rangers team without their stars is. Watched the replay and while Dekeyser is to blame for the losing goal too he shouldn't even have been outthere.

btw...love Pashas comment wish the rest of the team would follow suit.

I'm not sure why people are singling Alfie out for blame. I mean, he hasn't been where he needs to be, but two goals and, what, eight assists? On this team that's excellent. (See: Franzen, our ZOMG CONN SMYTHE ART ROSS POWER-FORWARD, has, what, two goals and five assists?) Alfie has been one of our more consistently dangerous - and all-around responsible - players.

I fear, among many other things, the young guys have gotten complacent.

"Wait, you mean I can just make my money and half-ass it and I won't be sent down - because we're too young already - and I won't be traded - because our GM doesn't trade anymore and we have no cap space anyway? And hey, look at Nyquist. That could be me, wallowing in the minors for no good reason. So why should I even bother giving '110%'?"

Wait wait wait wait wait.

The DEVILS beat the BRUINS?

Oh for the love of f***, now I'm all pissed off again. I was actually taking the loss pretty well this morning, but nothing ticks me off more - re: rooting for the Wings - than when they lose a game like that and then their biggest rivals also drop a ridiculous game, meaning we were *that* close to gaining some important ground in the standings. But nooOoOooOooo, we couldn't even get it up to beat a horrific Rags team.

STICK IT UP YOUR BUTT, PAVEL

I haven't lost faith - these ARE the Wings ... God's team - but I am starting to really dislike Babcock.Holland's decisions on some of these guys here.

Andersson is so damn average - defensive-type player or not. Chip in with a goal here or there.

Cleary - invisible. 3 points.

Bertuzzi - invisible.

Weiss - invisible, though he is trying - but 5 MILLION?

This team has NO indentity aside from #13 and #40. Nobody who seems to want to step forward and get this team on track. Babcock can't do everything.

Anyways, end rant.

This Western road trip should be interesting. As long as they get that MUST WIN vs. those overrated assholes in Vancouver.

Is it oif system that doesn't work, or do we lack the players to make the system work? It can't be a coincidence that everyone's offense has dried up the past few years.

Like haroldsnepsts and I and others have been saying for awhile now (did that sound snotty? Sorry, I'm not trying to be snotty), we're in an awkward, unfortunate place: we don't have enough skill to really work the puck-possession system, and we don't have enough size, speed, and grit to play a dump-and-chase game.

I think the blue line is far and away the biggest issue there. This is by far the weakest group we've had since the mid-90s. Were Jimmy not an elite goalie, and were our forwards not very responsible defensively, I think our D group would be exposed - in ugly fashion. There's just so very little there right now. Kindl, Quincey, Smith, and Lashoff are third-pairers here, and they'd be third-pairers elsewhere. The friggin' Jets are arguably deeper than us on the back end.

I think Nyquist and Helm will help the overall cause; outside of, like, Tootoo, we have no speed. But if we're really going to turn things around and become a legitimately elite team again, we absolutely need to pick up a quality defenseman, especially with our #2 being out for at least three weeks. We're not going to win the Cup with this blue line. Not happening.

Get rid of Francine, Cleary and Q.

Get some help on D cause this D sucks.

Take it easy with Smith, he was playing with worst D Quincey.

Sorry i am done holding out hope for Smith. It is apparent he is not getting any better at all, even when he doesn't play with Quincey. He is such a mess. This isn't like Ericsson, we can't afford to have him making mistakes out there all the time, we don't have the stars we use to have to make up for his garbage

I'd trade Franzen+Quincey+Picks for Enstrom in a heartbeat.

Failing that kind of trade for a great PMD, get Almqvist in the lineup. Him, Helm and Nyquist.

Did you read what Cleary wrote on twitter?

"@DanSmytheCleary71: That was a tough loss tonight. I will play better in the playoffs."

Takes real balls to even say play-offs with recent performances....idiot.

This is real? Lol

I remember a couple years ago Cleary didn't inject this stuff in his knee but did during the playoffs maybe this is the case every year. He is noticeably better every playoffs than during the regular season
