...as folks have stated, let the healing begin! (although I never turned on him like some.)

This is the first step in #91 getting put up next to #5 where it belongs! No matter what the argument ,the Red Wings of the 90's and early 00's are not the winners they were without Lids or Feds! They both belong in the rafters.

...anyhow, having Feds, and Igor there on the ice will be awesome! Is Fetisov planning on playing? All that leaves is coaxing Kozlov there and we will be set, because you ALL know Vladdy will make an appearance on the ice in some shape or form!

According to Khan, Kozlov will be there so the Russian 5 will be back together.  Even with honorary member Doug Brownov!

BoS Fedorov Fact #2: During the 97/98 season, I once STRONGLY considered throwing gum in Anna Kournikova's hair at a game. She was wearing a lavender jacket. Not my finest moment.

If he plays well, does Holland offer him a contract?

Holland would have to negotiate with the gm of cska Moscow, as fedorov just signed there :)

Is it just me or are we spoiled as Wings fans for getting to watch and cheer for so many legendary players.

It would be really sweet if he'd grow the mullet back out for the occasion.

I vote we send scouts with contracts to the game.

It still would be nice to have that one guy.

So, uhh, he'd have to negotiate with Fedorov?

This is all so meta.

I'll be super happy to get to see him play in the red and white again.  I have missed him.  Definitely going to bust out my #91 jersey with the A on game day.

So very, very cool that we're going to see the Russian 5 (Russian 6) together again.  I hope they put Feds on D in Vladdy's place on the ice, with Brownov taking his spot again on the wing.

That would be cruelty to animals, or in this case a cephalopod mollusk.

I'm glad you asked. While I would love to say that it was my strong moral foundation, I believe it was because she was sitting with his parents and I didn't trust my aim. I wanted none of that stern ass Viktor Fedorov action.

It makes me sad that "kids" these days (quotation marks because I guess I could count as a kid) have no conception of how obscenely good this guy was, how complete a player he was. I mean, you can say that about any great player of the past, but I think Feds is sort of special because he's really not that far removed from The Modern Era at all. (He's only, what, 43?) Put another way, Feds in his prime could probably still dominate in today's NHL. And, really, exceedingly few players in the history of the game have been the kind of complete package he became.

GETTER DONE KENNY

The dude put up 120 points in the same season he won the selke. There is no doubt he would be dominant in any era.

it would be really weird if Yzerman was the only player not joining this. I think for the first time ever, I would be pissed at the icon of the Red Wings

My wish: A healthy roster

I know, so was I, with the meta comment.  Mine was admittedly less funny.  I chuckled at yours :)

Bah.  He is the face of another NHL team's front office now.  As much as I would love to see him play, I understand why it won't be happening.

Agreed.  I also have to wonder if he can even skate well enough to play at all given his knee.

He said several years ago that he hadn't put on a pair of skates once since he retired.

"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk
