I'm a little surprised it's only four years.

They apparently wanted 5, but the Canucks wanted 3 so they split the difference.

I can't remember who tweeted that but I can probably dig it up. Lebrun maybe?

EDIT:

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 4h

Canucks originally wanted three-year deals for twins, agent JP Barry was pushing for five years, so yes, they found the middle

Good deals, imo they've got a good chance of getting over that 'playoff chokers' label pretty soon. They rocked the World Champs recently for Sweden, I've got no doubt they can get it done in the playoffs too.

This is a dumb signing.

Daniel is worth MUCH more than Henrik.

Maybe I mean that the other way around...

Henrik is the one that's worth more, not a huge difference though and they're more valuable together than apart.

What would you say the country of Sweden's opinion is in terms of which Sedin twin is worth more if you absolutely had to put one over the other?

Ever since I've heard of them I would only hear that Daniel is the better player. Yet Henrik is the one with the C who always like to half-joke that he carries Daniel on that line.

I think previously Daniel has had a somewhat higher status beause he's scored more goals but the last couple of years it's become more clear that Henrik is the superior player, especially after Daniel was out injured and Henrik didn't miss a beat. Honestly I don't think a lot of people really rate them differently though.

They always sign the same contracts. It does not matter what the "worth" of either brother is. You either sign both to the same deal or you get none. Better question would be is the pair worth $14M per year.

They've combined for 627 points over the past four seasons (294 games), so I'd say yes. And if Vancouver didn't pay them this, another team would.

I don't know how I feel about the deal. I kind of had it in the back of my mind that they'd be Wings someday because, well, Sweden. But while it's easy to look at them and call them "soft" or whatever (don't tell Torts), the fact remains that they've been the one constant in Vancouver over what has been a pretty consistently successful period of hockey for them. They bridge gap from Trevor Linden to Bertuzzi to Naslund to Ryan Kesler, and without their steady production, that'd be like replacing an entire scoring line. Then again, with the money they now make, Vancouver could afford to do it!

It's funny how the one Hart season (2009-10) for Henrik seemed to have leveled off the debate over which of them is more valuable. Both of them have been pretty durable, especially Henrik, who I don't think has missed a game post-2005 lockout. But although Henrik is elite as a setup man, Daniel's 6-straight seasons (interrupted only by the last lockout) of 29 goals or more, plus a ton of assists, probably still make him the better of the two.

Oh don't worry they will be, when they are in their 40's and we pay the 4 mill a piece each to play on the 4th line.
