I'm with you... the whole team changed when Shanny arrived. He gave us everything we needed in a true blue Power forward. What an awesome player he was!

Yeah the Shanny trade for us changed everything. Much respect towards Shanny arguably the key piece in 97. Was a beast of a player for us imo right behind Stevie and Feds

Why the hell would any of us hate him today? I love, and always will love Brendan Shanahan. He was a true hall of fame player and an honor for me to watch when I was just a young kid.

I still can't believe the politics of the game couldn't be set aside last year. He should have been first-ballot for sure. 600+ goals and 2,000+ PIM, 3 Stanley Cups, Shanahan Summit, etc.

I got love for Shanny, he was a part of some legendary teams the Wings put together. It's hard not to love any of those players.

Was monstrous for us in his prime, and was scoring 40 goals for us even when he was "washed up." A very special player.

I don't think he was the heart and soul of the team. Fedorov, Lidstrom, Yzerman, McCarty were part of that nucleus as well, amongst others.
