Should we be interested? He's a smallish centerman (we're pretty much set at center, and we're already undersized at the position) but he can score (nine goals in fourteen games this season). Former Wolverine, I think, if that's worth anything.

The big problem is his cap hit, which is 6 or 7 million. I kinda feel like if we're going to go for a high-priced goal-scorer, we should go top-line elite (e.g. Gaborik). But, to his credit, Cammalleri has been pretty consistent, production-wise. And it might be easier to land him versus a Gaborik.

Another potential issue is his age (31).

Realistically, I don't think Holland would be remotely interested in seriously kicking this set of tires. But someone here did report that he said he was hoping to make at least a couple of trades. He always says that, though. So, *shrug*

What do you think?

Feaster wants to load up on prospects and draft picks, as he has finally begun Calgary's rebuild. Any deal for Cammalleri would begin with Nyquist or Tatar and a GOOD draft pick as the centerpiece. That's too high a price for another aging player with a high price tag. We don't have the cap space to get this deal done without shedding salary that we don't want. None of our removable, undesirable contracts belong to players that have any shred of trade value, especially not to a team like Calgary that plays a fast game. They don't want our garbage for a player like Cammalleri.

I really like Cammy as a player and person and would love to have him on the team. Not that he's ideally what we need but sometimes you've got to go for what's available or could end up with nothing.

However with his pending UFA status I would wait till the offseason. I don't think it's be worth the high rental price even if we could fit him under the payroll.

I figure he would cost around a high first and a second or a first and a good prospect.

He can play the wing, and even though he's a small guy, he's fiesty with a nose for the net. And he's money in the post season. With his cap number, at any point in the season it'd be difficult. But of all the guys that'd be available, he's the one who'd bring us closer to a cup. Between Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Alfredsson, Franzen (can't completely count him out) and Cammalleri, we'd certainly have our fair share of big game players.
