Henrik Zetterberg

Thought I'd start a threat commending his play. With 3 points tonight, Hank currently sits tied for 2nd in league-scoring (behind C***by and tied with Alex Steen).

At the start of the season, who would have thought Zetterberg would be that high up right now? Him and Pavel have been outstanding all season--so they've defintely got some good years left. And come playoff time, I really think Z will carry the team on his back again in a bid for Alfie to win his first Cup.

Z is a straightforward hardworking player that does it right every game. He's the ideal NHL captain because if that and it's nice to see my favorite player getting some bounces instead of being featured on half the top 10 saves of the year.

He's ok, I guess.

If he keeps this up, he could become a genuine contender for the Hart, especially with the Eastern Conference bias in the media.

I feel like Zetterberg could never win the Hart, because we also have Datsyuk, and vice-versa.

Harding might be the early Hart favorite at this point.

You're probably right, but look at other Hart winners:

Perry has Getzlaf

Malkin and Crosby have eachother along with a few other players

Henrik Sedin has his brother and Kesler.

I feel like all of those guys could be missing from their team and those teams would be just fine, not the same, but fine. If we lost Z I wouldn't like to watch Pav trying carry this team basically by himself. Just like if the Caps lose Ovie and the Lightning after losing Stamkos.

This. Same reason why Lidstrom was never considered, and neither Pavel or Hank were considered in some of their most outstanding seasons. Granted even in 2007-2008, Pav and Z were only as high as 4th and 6th in scoring at the end of the year, though both Selke finalists with Datsyuk winning. But who cares about defense, right Ovi?

(On a side note: its easy to forget how dominant Iginla was during that period. 3rd in points wit 50 goals in '07-'08 following 94pts in 70 games the previous season)

Great point, actually. So who knows. All comes down to where they stand at the end of the season. Z has been in this position before, leading the league after the first stretch. Its hard to maintain, especially when you have to kill penalties and play with inconsistent (read: unreliable) linemates.
