Predators' Weber leaves game with upper body injury

Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber took a puck to the face Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers late in the second period. It was announced that Weber sustained an upper body injury and would not return.

Weber, who entered the game sixth in the League in average total ice time (26:33), absorbed a wrist shot from Oilers forward David Perron just below his right eye.

Playing on Nashville's top defensive pair with Roman Josi, Weber has seven goals and 12 points with a minus-6 rating in 25 games. He left the game Thursday with a team-high five of the Predators' 24 shots through two periods.

I never wish something like this upon any person. I hope nothing serious or long term comes of this. That being said, I still haven't forgave him over the way he slammed Z's face into the boards.

Damn. Puck to the face is never somethin to mess with, that sucks. But then I remember him smashing Hank's face into the glass a few years ago in the playoffs. I don't feel so bad now.

At least you can come to sympathetic and (sometimes) respectful wings fans!

Hate the puck to the face injuries though... Hopefully it's not as bad as it seemed.

Although I dislike him for obvious reasons - as some people mentioned - best of luck and a speedy recovery to Weber. Guy is a human beast with size and grit on the ice

Can't stand the f*****.

That being said, I would never wish injury on a player, especially on a non-hockey play where some ****** slams his head into the...oh.

Well anyway hope it's nothing serious or long-term.

I don't wish injuries either.  Probably because I'm not a wishing machine.  But that doesn't mean I'm going to feel sorry for an a-hole like Weber.

And a pretty awesome playoff beard.

From now on, Patrick Roy will be rolled out to and from the Avs' bench like Hannibal Lecter. - BottleOfSmoke

I hope he fully recovers with no long-term effects and that we beat his arse on the ice.

The Weber contract is going to be an anchor to the preds franchise.

I don't think too many people here are "happy" to see Weber injured.

I have to say that coming here and posting about the Weber injury would be like a Wings' fan going to a Colorado site and posting about an injury to McCarty. There wouldn't have been a lot of sympathy, I'm sure.

I guess I should have questioned why you posted that Weber is hurt on a Wings forum because probably 99% of this forum doesn't care.

I'm probably wrong though as always :P
