My wife(Isles fan) asked me what's up with Helm's stash and I told her to check out Clutterbuck's 1970's porn stash atrocity....I won. This game was a bit sloppy but man Detroit poured it on in the second half of the game especially thanks to Helm. Star Wars: "These ARE the Wings you are looking for...move along...move along." Nice to see Jimmy now knows there's gonna be a goalie controversy if he didn't step his game up and he did. Alfredsson is a beast by the way. Keep it up guys!

Since I only had the feed here and the tsn gametracker, was Howard average en route to his shutout? Also, can anybody break down the third pd goals for me? Thanks in advance.

No, Howard made several good saves in the 1st when it was still tight, and the D coughed up several brutal turnovers to Islanders in the slot throughout the game.  It wasn't 1998 Hasek-in-Buffalo-49-save-shutout good, but it was a good performance.

3rd was a great stretch pass up the middle by Smith to a streaking Alfie who went high glove.

4th goal was 2on1, Franzen cross-ice to Nyquist who wristed it top corner far side.

5th goal was shot by Kronner, hit Abdelkader, cleared off the line and Alfie put it home.

"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk

Mule and Alfie on fire.

I love watching Gus and Tatar.

Smitty had a good game.

Very few negatives

WINGS BABY WINGS!!!

Team is firing on all cylinders now.

Best thing that happened to us imo was Nyquist being brought up.

We have looked like a different team and no DD either. I can't believe it.

Smith looks like he's taking the same super-hero pills as Franzen.

Crazy, but after injuries everyone became somehow better.Helm,Smith,Franzen,Weiss, but there are not any kind of pills to get Sammy going

I am already looking forward to seeing Alfie in the playoffs, he will walk on bloody stumps to make sure this team gets somewhere.

I'd trade him for a rental player at the deadline at this point. If we spent that 5M a year on a defensemen we'd be a serious contender. Instead we have an average 4th line center. Good thing is we don't need him at all

don't get me wrong, I don't expect him to get hot playing on that 4th line, but he was on the 2nd line for most of the season and didn't do much either

there really isn't a place on the team for him at the moment. top 3 center positions are solidified as of now

Datsyuk

Zetterberg

Helm

Andersson/Weiss (5m/y to play here is BS)

cant break up that Zetterberg line... too good at the moment. datsyuk is guaranteed 1st line center when healthy

Keep him for the playoffs then try and get rid of him for nothing just to shed some salary. This team is better suited having Datsyuk and zetterberg split on lines 1 and 2. Especially in the playoffs
