kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Is this true? I found a Swedish article (translated to English) speculating he is. Not sure if there are any concrete English articles out there.
CMatt89 63 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Who else would it be? For real though, what other Swedes would qualify? I'm drawing a blank.
Jocke 53 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Henrik Sedin. But my money is on z.
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Who else will we be sending? Definately Kronner and Franzen. Possibly Ericsson and Nyquist?
MabusIncarnate 5,344 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 All Wings fan favoritism aside, Zetterberg is the best man for the job.
joesuffP 1,746 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Zetterberg, Franzen, Kronwall, Alfie maybe Ericsson
Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 It would be great if it's Hank but not surprised if they picked Alfie.
MidMichSteve 1,115 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) It seems to me that Alfie would be the choice. http://sens20.ottawasenators.com/club/captains/ During the 1999-2000 season, Alfredsson was named captain of the Senators after Alexei Yashin was stripped of the captaincy. On 8 July 2009, Alfredsson became the longest serving active captain in the NHL. Edited December 1, 2013 by MidMichSteve
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Well I always thought it's going to be Zetterberg, Hedin or if he plays Alfie. Sweden has a really balanced line up, they may lack the starpower of Canada but I think their goaltending and balanced lineup could surprise even Canada. PavelValerievichDatsyuk 1,935 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Alfie wasn't invited to the olympic camp for some reason. He would seem to be the other likely candidate.
wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Alfie wasn't invited to the olympic camp for some reason. He would seem to be the other likely candidate. He wasn't invited because he was not sure what he was doing yet. There is no doubt that Alfie will be playing in the Olympics now and as much as I love Hank, the Sweden Captaincy should go to Alfie...
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Well as I said the Swedish article confirms its Zetterberg. For some reason I can't link it here.. (Probly admin block on non-English sources). We'll find out if its true soon enough I guess.
Ekmanc 586 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 It's going to be Zetterberg with Alfie and H. Sedin as A:s and we are definitely sending Kronwall, Z, Franzén, Alfie and Ericsson.
wings87 1,290 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Z deserves it. I've also heard that Datsyuk might captain the Russian team.
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Z deserves it. I've also heard that Datsyuk might captain the Russian team. For PR reasons alone it will be either OV Rafulov or homecoming hero Kovalchuk although Pasha extremely deserves it. 1 Gordie Howe hat trick reacted to this
wings87 1,290 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 For PR reasons alone it will be either OV Rafulov or homecoming hero Kovalchuk although Pasha extremely deserves it. You are probably right but like you said Pavel deserves it more. Also if Russia chooses Radulov they deserve to lose even though we all know they will anyway
Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 For PR reasons alone it will be either OV Rafulov or homecoming hero Kovalchuk although Pasha extremely deserves it. I don't see how Radulov would be a candidate considering he had his captaincy in the KHL stripped away earlier this season. "The last captain had problems with discipline," said Fedorov. "Will it hurt the previous captain? He shouldn't and cannot be hurt." I would put money on Kovalchuk.
St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Alfie get's it but would love to see Z wear the C obviously. Either one I'm cool with. Having said that I don't see Sweden being too good this Olympic tournament. Not too good as in not even medal worthy.
