Has Mikael Samuelsson finally played his last game for Detroit?

No Zetterberg, no Helm, no Weiss, no Franzen, no Abdelkader. Emmerton in GR, Tootoo in GR.......and he still can't crack the line-up.

Have we finally seen the last of #37? I wonder if this is Kenny's way of putting pressure on him - now will you waive your NMC so we can do a salary dump trade?

Why should he do that? The guy is getting paid and I'm sure is already flirting with retirement at the end of the year, so even if he doesn't play it changes nothing for him. Hate to say it, but Kennys hands are tied here :( if he doesn't waive nobody can force him to.

He'll be back next season as a "power play specialist."

"We feel like last season was one of those seasons where nothing seems to go right for anyone," Holland said, referring to, among other things, the Wings' borderline comical injury woes. "Was Sammy one of our best players? Probably not. But I think you could say that even Datsyuk wasn't really himself, for whatever reasons."

"I just don't know that it's fair to single out one or two players. When a team with as much talent as ours misses the playoffs, I call that a team effort. No one was really getting it done in the second half, after Sochi. We're not going to scapegoat anyone for that."

You know it's gonna happen. Don't even try to deny it.

Per Ansar for tonight's game:

Second power play unit has Tatar, Cleary, Eaves up front, Kindl and Samuelsson at points.

A powerplay unit with both Cleary and Sammy on it. This is YOUR fault.

Things are actually going exactly as they should. The vets get the nod until they play themselves out of a roster spot. Sammy and Cleary are doing just that, playing themselves off the roster and, like Nyquist, one of these kids is going to earn their spot.

He knows the system. He's had success here in the past. You can never have enough veterans in the locker room....

Do I need to go on?
