nuts2u 22 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 The pickins must be awful slim for him to make that roster. 1 aflac9262 reacted to this
St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 I'm very surprised Jimmy made the roster tbh. Nonetheless congrats!!!

Red Crazy 201 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 Its great for him! Maybe this will help with his confidence going forward. I am a little surprised given his injury and his play so far this year. Maybe our d just sucks after all.....
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 The D HAS been terrible all year. Howard hasn't been stellar but every goalie has an off stretch.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 It's Wyshynski quoting St. James, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt. I don't think Howard played as badly as some around here, but if he is selected it sure wasn't based on this season's play. Honestly I'd just as soon he's home getting a break and they send someone who played well this season like Bishop to be the third goaltender.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 Good going, Jimmy! Maybe this will give him a shot of confidence and a little swagger.

Vladinator16 236 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 Great for Howie, maybe this will give him the confidence he needs to get his season on track and out of the slump. On a side note I'm rather shocked Howard gets the invite over Ben Bishop.
dirtydangles 1,328 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 Reputation pick. Howard has been average this year but has the ability to play much higher. I agree that this may take some pressure off of him and he can start playing like an underdog trying to earn his way up the pecking order.
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 I doubt the third string goalies are going to see a lot of ice time, sure it's nice to be nominated but if nothing dramatically happens it's going to be Quick > Miller > Howard. None the less this is a very good group to have.
Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 And Miller has been stellar?
hankzet40 233 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Miller has actually been outstanding on a putrid team. Having a save percentage near .930 and a GAA of less than 3 on a team that gives up 75 shots a game is a minor miracle. He also almost carried them to gold in 2010. I will be stunned if he is not the starter considering how mediocre and injured Quick has been. Add me to the surprised that Howie made it camp but kudos nonetheless. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 Kind of the best of both worlds- he gets the honour and experience, but he probably won't be playing in games. He'll keep in shape practice-wise, but hopefully won't get injured. (knocking wood as I speak)
anthonyn66 89 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 Miller has been sensational this year, .930 on the worst team in the NHL is nothing to sneeze at 1 haroldsnepsts reacted to this

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 I wonder if Ryan is actually grey too or if he dyes. Only his hairdresser knows for sure. (And if you remember that commercial, you're old.) I think (barring injury) it'll be Miller- Quick- Howard. 1 puckloo39 reacted to this
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) Like everyone else here ... i must say, pleasantly surprised. I have to think the pickins are slim. Guess Thomas didn't make the cut ... comeback didn't quite impress. Good in another way, I'm Canadian ... if there was ever a time I wouldn't mind if JH performed badly, it'd be at Sochi. And if US plays Sweden ... that'd be interesting, wouldn't it? Edited December 31, 2013 by RedWingsRox
wings87 1,290 Report post Posted December 31, 2013 Before the season started I though Jimmy was a lock to make the team. Yeah, he's had a bad year but not having good team defense made protecting the net a much bigger chore.
The Secret 304 Report post Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) Sorry to my Yankee friends out there but this years version of Jimmy Howard shouldn't even be allowed to work the door on the bench. There are better playing goalies out there that should be in before him and it may do Jimmy alot more good to stay home and live with Jim Bedard for the next few weeks to put him back together.... I knew there would be rust last night but the first shot on goal from near the blueline? Really? Follow by 2 more just the same? Thats not rust... it's loss of vision maybe? Played without his contacts on possibly? No doubt Jimmy will bounce his way back but the way his is playing right now, I would not want him on the Olympic team if I were from 'Merca Edited December 31, 2013 by The Secret
