Who are the 3 players you think that have the best chance to become Captain or Alternates on the Red Wings?

My choice:

C - DeKeyser

A- Nyquist

A - Sproul

be about it!

Hard to say which have leadership ability considering pretty much none of them have ever played an NHL game.  Of those you mentioned probably Danny D as captain, and whoever else after that.  But realistically the next leadership group is likely to have Helm, Abby, and maybe Ericsson leading the way.

DeKe for sure.  He does seem to have a good head on his shoulders.

I honestly don't know enough about the others to be sure.  The few that have been up have only been up for a few games, or don't appear to have what it takes yet.

They're still young.  Some won't end up here, of course, and others will mature well.

There really aren't ones like Hank and Pavel who we knew would be the next generation of leaders, but at this point, I'm not worried.  As Kip said, there are enough in between to pass the torch to before these guys get it.

The only one I'm really out-of-my-mind high on is Dekeyser.  Now that I've said that, he'll probably have a bad sophomore season next year (I'm not counting last year as a season for this purpose) and he'll be like Ericsson where we have to be patient as everyone dumps on him.

I'm interested to know what the people who follow the Griffins think.

In reality, things aren't on fire.  Fire is on things.

I'll get back to you in 10 years. It's possible the next Red Wing Captain isn't even old enough to drive a car.

Just keep bumping the thread so it doesn't die.

Too long.. next A realistically available is 3 seasons from now when Datsyuk leaves. That A will probably go to Ericsson.

But I think both Dekeyser and Nyquist seem to have the qualities to wear a letter.

I see Deke and Nyquist wearing the A at some point. Can't say who wears the C at this point. Hopefully a young Centre will emerge as a top player who can complete the trio (maybe Jarnkrok but I don't see much leadership from him yet in AHL).

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?

Next C will probly be DD.  I can see Tatar with an A eventually, he's quite a vocal character with a big time mentality (WJC,Calder Cup).

"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk

The only one who I think is a sure thing = Danny K

It's highly possible that a guy like Tatar, Jurco or Nyquist might get traded in the future.

Ryan Sproul would get my vote for the C. Guy is destined for great things and always stands tall on the ice.

As someone else said during XO Manowar's NHL appearance, with Ouellet's initials of XO, an A on the jersey could be appropriate.

DeKeyser will definitely have an A at some point, possibly the C.
It's pronounced "Zim" not "Exim". Aw heck with it, just call me Scott.

I can really see DD and Goose getting letters, beyond that it's a little more up in the air, I think. Jarnkrok or Ouellet could both make a case.

“You tell me how often it happens when a guy put up two points, has a good game, and next thing you know he sits for 10 games,” Kindl said. “But that’s in the past and I don’t want have that in my mind. I’m just excited for this new camp."

“I always tried to have confidence when I wasn’t playing. It wasn’t easy for me. You may think you played a good game and you sit down for the next 10 (games) and keep going back and forth, but all that is in the past and I’m just looking forward to a new challenge.”

After Helm serves as captain whenn Z retires I'd say Deke with Nyquist and Ouellet.

I like this team.
