Look who's top in GR scoring

Dirty Harry scored his team leading 14th goal for the Griffins last night and seems to be making a strong case for a job on the Wings next season. He has cut down on his pims considerably and has actually shown the coaches he can play as well as agitate.

A fourth line of Sheahan Tootoo and Callahan looks an intriguing one which may just happen.

I think there should be a rule about completely fabricating nicknames for players. I have no idea who Dirty Harry is, and it's annoying that I have to ask.

He's been called that for a few years now, by a few different posters

How about Callahan Glendening Miller. (I think Tootoo's traded)

Personally, I think it's more likely that Tootoo ends up getting bought out. I believe there are 3 forwards in GR that are no longer waiver exempt next year right, Callahan, Sheahan, & Ferraro? Making for an interesting race to see who winds up with the big team next year if any with Callahan 7th in scoring for the Griffs and Sheahan & Ferraro tied for 9th.

I played street hockey with Mitch Callahan in Los Angeles. He plays there in the off-season since that is where he is from. Good street hockey player too!

You can check out his street hockey stats by going here: http://www.socalstreethockey.com

Then click stat center

Then change season to "Summer 2013 - regular season"

Then change division to "Gold"

Then click points on the statistics dropdown.

21 points in six games! :)

Was about to post a thread about this, this morning. I don't know why he is consistently overlooked. The guy is tough, works hard, and has an eye for the net. IMO I'de have him on the wings before your generic soft grinder (eaves, glendenning, emmerton, etc) any day. He has adapted his game for the wings, and has more dimension on a fourth line than any of the previously mentioned guys! Sheahan and Ferraro have under achieved compared to what many expected out of them, when they were drafted, Cally has done nothing but work his ass off and improve every year. He's not an enforcer by any means, but isn't afraid of anyone, and can also put the puck in the net. He deserves a shot.

also, although +/- can be deceptive, Mitch is a plus 13.

Chill man! Instead of getting annoyed, why don't you ask who this person is referring to?

Some people are just like this everywhere they post. Just ignore.

I knew exactly who he was talking about..maybe thats just because I love Dirty Harry.

I don't have a problem with Mitch getting a call-up but your post is a little bit off base. Glendening, Emmerton, Sheahan, and Ferraro are all centers, which is why they've all been called up (minus Ferraro), and their presence has no effect on Callahan who is a winger. Callahan has been behind Nyquist (at the beginning of the season) and Jurco as far as winger depth, and he's clearly not as well established as either one of them at the AHL level, let alone the NHL level.

You do have a point about Eaves getting the call up over Callahan. I assume that Eaves is probably the better player overall, but why not give Mitch a try for a game or two.

Not only do I log onto LGW at least once per day and have never heard Callahan referred to as Dirty Harry, but LGW isn't meant to cater exclusively to hardcore forum posters. Nicknames are supposed to make it easier to discuss the team, not to prove how funny and clever you are. Making up nicknames that no one else uses is obnoxious and unnecessary. Watch...

It looks like Yellow Mustard is going to miss some time after catching that elbow last night against the Sabres. Its really bad timing too, because our defense already thin with Big Poppa out with a concussion and Bandit serving his 5 game suspension. I would say this forces us to call up someone from GR, most likely Billy the Kid or The Player Formerly Known As Steve. We might be in trouble on the back end until we get some regulars back, since this leaves the Boogeyman as our #1 defenseman. And you know what that means!!!!

Boogeyman - Hot Topic

Heebie Jeebies - Dances with Wolves

My Little Pony - Agent Orange

sorry for causing such a who-har but i was just using the nick name id seen used

on other threads. didnt think anyone could get that upset over such a trivial thing!

Maybe some fans should be more interested in our prospects while they are in the

farm teams and not just when they are called up to Detroit.

ps. Bannedforlife, you certaintly made a point there eh?

I was under the impression that this was indeed a nickname given to him my his GR teammates and fans. Am I wrong in that?

Edit: Looks like some people need to brush up on their Griffins news. Brendan Savage sorts out all the drama here...http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/07/mitch_dirty_harry_callahan_cou.html

I didn't know much about this kid, and after doing some reading, it seems like he was pegged as a 4th line agitator who does his best work in the greasy areas. If he has somehow developed a scoring touch, Callahan is going to be dangerous.

I don't know about that. He's still a grinder and projected fourth liner. If Griffins stats were that relevant, Emmerton would be our next big prospect with his points/game.

Callahan gets a lot of dirty goals. Hope he's at least given a shot next year.
