Would you trade Jimmy for a top pairing dman?

Not sure if McKee is hurt or what, every time Western is on tv he isn't playing and he's been stuck on 11 games played for awhile

Last I heard he was a healthy scratch because he can't play hockey, just fight.

Right now I'm open to:

- replace Holland with Y

- keep: Pasha, Z, Kronnwer, Dekeyser, Monster, Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan

- call up Mike McKee

- keep Babcock on a shortleash for next season ~ 10 - 15 games

- get rid of every other veteran they aren't cutting it anymore period

- trade Howard for a big bodied scoring Winger

built a bigger team for crying out loud, they are understandable intimidated by teams like St. Louis, change thef****** playstlye puck possession DOES NOT work

The fact that you think a kid who can't crack the lineup of a mediocre NCAA team should be in the NHL makes me seriously question that you know anything at all about hockey.

I think trading for a top defenseman is just stupid no matter who is moved.

A top four of kronwall and Ericsson or dekeyser and smith and whoever else is left would be great.

We just need Babcock to stop the smith Quincey failure of a line.

Then bottom line can EASILY be filled internally.

Our biggest issue and has been for awhile is scoring. We have not one too notch winger on this team. In the future maybe with our young guys but none right now. We do have plenty of second third and fourth line wingers though.

I agree our biggest issue is scoring, but I believe our biggest issue is we aren't generating/sustaining offense because of our blueline. The style of play that this team is focused on needs dmen who not only join the rush, but ones who create and maintain it. Our blueline scoring is way down over the past three years... and so is our scoring as a team.

I'm not gonna blame for our losses but he hasn't won anything yet .... Mrazek was a stud in the junior championships a stud for the griffins .... He's got a cool demeanour a great confidence in himself and has swag I could be proven wrong and I'd admit it I was wrong but for me theres no doubt in my mind this kid is a future star goalie ... He just needs more starts

A lot more ahl time than mrazek .... And he's already way ahead than where jimmy was when he was 21

Right cause it isn't like Howard stopped 44 of 45 shots recently or anything but we couldn't score, news flash you can't win scoring 1 goal or less. Jimmy has been great lately, and the team hasn't played well.

Our leading goal scorers totals since 2008:

2013 (shortened season): Datsyuk, 15

2011-12: Franzen 29

2010-11: Franzen 28

2009-10: Datsyuk 27

2008-09: Hossa 40

08-09 there were also 3 other guys with more than 30 goals. I don't think you can have an elite team when your leading goal scorer for the season can't even crack 30. We need someone who can score at least 40, and I think it would help others around them.

Your forwards can't score a lot of goals when your D-men can't get a pass out of the zone

Smith - leads our D-men in give aways (38) Kindl is #2 with 29
Kindl - leads our D-men in missed shots (45) 1.4% shooting percentage

Kronwall - Ericsson
Loser - DeKeyser
Loser - Loser
Loser

If you can't generate offense you have to shut down the D zone. Smith, Kindl, Quincey, Lashoff don't play big D, they don't block a ton of shots, they don't lay a ton of hits, they are at the moment worthless.

Fun Fact: Quincey is our only D-man who sees significant TOI that has more take-aways than give-aways (25 TKA, 23 GVA)

2012 kings, kopitar 25 goals

2011 Bruins, lucic 30 goals

2010 Blackhawks, Kane 30 goals

2009 penguins, Malkin 35 goals

2008 wings, Zetterberg 43 goals

I didn't count the lockout season for obvious reasons. But since we won the cup not one team has won with a 40 goal scorer, and most had a 30 or less goal scorer. So your argument although a good point, is not necessarily true.
